a policy review on citizenship for migrants,
By Almelle (Virginia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Citizenship Policies for an Age of Migration: The Comparative Citizenship Project (Paperback)
The authors have written a policy-oriented book on the ways in which liberal democracies should handle citizenship issues, especially in light of increasing migration. They overview current policies and philosophies on citizenship, and then recommend offering migrants citizenship after several generations in the country, allowing dual citizenship, allowing some political rights to non-citizens, and engaging permanent residents the social welfare system of benefits and responsibilities. Dry, but useful if you're interested in policy.
