This review is from: Citroen Ds (Osprey Classic Marques) (Paperback)
Having recently purchased a new Citroen I found myself taking an interest in the marque, and wanting to know more about the history.
I have always admired the DS model, and having seen a few at recent club shows I needed to know more about this particular model. I had purchased another book from the Osprey Classic Marques series and been very impressed with the quality, and when I spotted this one for sale I knew that it would be the best book to buy on the subject. The photography is outstanding, reproducing beautifully on the high quality gloss paper. The models chosen are immaculate in 'ex showroom' condition, with many close-ups on the interior and under the hood. The text is very easy to read. I found reading the history of the company to be fascinating, especially the connection with the factory at Slough in England. When Citroen took over Maserati they produced one of their finest cars in the Maserati powered SM, and we were given the full history of this project, including several photos of Maseratis that were made during Citroen's tenure of that brand. Also towards the end mention is made of other Citroens that followed including the CX and XM. I can thoroughly recommend this book for anyone who admires the DS (Goddess), and would finish my review by quoting from Autosport's review of the 1955 Paris Salon, "..... Futuristic, but entirely functional, this startling machine at once renders half the cars of the world out of date". |
