I have been taking this product for a few years now. I have irritable bowel syndrome and was able to stop taking prescription medicine for it as long as I take this product. I just take two a day every evening and I feel fine.

Citrucel is a product I have been using for quite some time and I am so very pleased with its results. My doctor had recommended it for me and it was a Godsend to find something that could relieve my problems.

Methylcellulose does seem to provide the bulking needed to solve my problem. However, I don't take it as described on the bottle (2 up to 6 times a day). I take 4 with my first meal of the day, and if I eat a meal later that may have a higher quantity of fat (which causes loose stools) then I might take 2 more with that meal. This method seems to work for me. You might be able to find methylcellulose in a generic version though.

I use this product daily for a source of additional fiber in my diet. This has been a part of my preventive health plan for years. Two pills per day is sufficient for my needs.

my doctor told me to use this product. i get coupons in the mail sometimes and have bought the store brand. but the amazon price was better than generic and having it mailed directly to me is much more convenient.

I was showing signs of irritable bowel syndrome. I used to complain to my physician's assistant every year during my physical, but he never prescribed anything for it. I was talking to a co-worker and she told me that she had the same problem after having her gall bladder removed. It was pretty bad for me on a daily basis. I was afraid of even going out to eat with co-workers because I was worried about making it back to the office before having to use the bathroom. Anyway, my co-worker told me about Citrucel so I bought a jar of the powdered stuff. The effect was immediate and positive. It calmed my stomach and bowel right down. No more cramps and gas. I can take it mixed with water after every meal and have had no ill effects whatsoever. I recently had to go out of town for a wedding so I bought the caplets. They performed just like the powder.

I've tried cheaper generics ("house brands") but they all have a powdery residue on the pill, which I really can't stand. So, even though I like generics in many cases - not in this one. I only buy Citrucel now. It's my daily insurance that I'm getting fiber in my diet

I started out with one or two caplets a day for constipation, but had to keep increasing the dosage up to 5 or six a day--which is allowed on the directions. By that point it had the opposite effect. Bowels were so hard and big, it was causing damage and pain. Had to completely stop using this product and can't recommend it.
