A passionate home cook that has been honing her cooking skills for the last 25 years writes this review. My favorite cookbooks are "The Professional Chef" by the Culinary Institute and "Culinary Artistry".

I have been using this product for many years, probably close to a decade by now. If you are concerned about the chemical and pesticide residue or just dirt on your produce this product is another added level of protection. Most of the produce that I purchase is organic, and I still purchase this product to clean all my produce. This product leaves no aftertaste provided you rinse thoroughly. After I have soaked the produce in the water and solution mixture I follow with two rinses in clean water to make certain that the cleaner has been completely removed.

From the label on the bottle, the 100% natural and biodegradable ingredients are as follows:

Water

Natural cleaners made from corn and coconut

Lemon oil

Sodium citrate (a natural derivative of citrus fruit)

Glycerin (from coconut oil)

Grapefruit seed extract

A full of bottle of the product lasts at least a month in my home, and we are predominantly consuming vegan cuisine, so you can imagine how much produce we go through in a month.

I highly recommend this product to anyone that is concerned about kitchen sanitation or chemical and pesticide residue on his or her produce.

Check out the brown, murky Veggie Wash runoff from these cherries and strawberries. I assure you that the Veggie Wash is not that color before spraying it on. As far as I can see, this is a very decent product. Check out my pics back on the main product page.

Now granted this is good marketing, and it makes people feel better.
It's all natural. That's a plus.

Unfortunately study after study has shown it doesn't work so well...I mean, let's face it, it's an emulsifier and some oils. It does add grapefruit seed extract, which is a natural anti-fungal but likely those who buy this are not simply trying to remove fungus, but instead the typical residues found on fruits and veggies.

And we all know how important it is to get all the pesticides off your food right? This is kind of a joke in the cooking world but I still tried it out, because sometimes I love things that are a joke and I also wanted to see what was in it and look at how it worked.

My apples were still waxy. I can tell artificial wax on an apple. But we want clean likely more than anything...so don't take my word for it:

One university study found that distilled water was equally if not more effective in removing microbes such as bacteria and mold. Another study at Tennessee State University also found that water worked as well as the vegetable wash tested.

It's funny but I have had this for awhile and had forgotten my own review until I watched another news study on TV debunk myths and used this as an example of playing on the consumer fears.

But in the event you don't wish to just use water--use what has been proven effective forever: half vinegar and half water...rinse well. You can just put it in a spray bottle and mist it on. Apple cider vinegar is actually really good for you and IT will remove the pesticides and wax, unlike any oil that ensures things cling to your fruit or veggie but most cooking peeps just use plain clear distilled vinegar and water.

I have tried this product and FIT. Veggie wash is more concentrated so it lasts longer. I cannot live without it. I eat a lot of fruits and veggies and you can actually see a big difference after they are washed with Veggie Wash. The apples aren't waxy and the broccoli is really green not green with a milky white coating.

I love the veggie wash to wash vegetables of course but also to keep ants in control. Who knew? It was by pure chance that I found out this work wonderfully to get rid of ants. I have a toddler who puts everything in his mouth so any other chemical ant killer is not even an option. During rainy season when ants invade my home I simply spray the veggie wash and wipe clean the area. I keep repeating that until they give up. I don't know what I would've done to fight the ants without the veggie wash.

We've been using Veggie Wash for 10 years, we feel safer eating fruit after cleansing it with water & veggie wash and it doesn't leave any weird taste or smell on the food.

We soak grapes, lettuce etc. in a container w/ veggie wash and spray it on the skin of pears, apples (especially important) and any other big fruits/veggies.

We also use it to kill ants & my sister-in-law claimed she sprayed it on a cockroach & it died (haven't seen that myself).

I've been using Veggie Wash for a few years and it's great. I can see the grime come off the minute I spray it on. My fruits polish up nicely and look delicious after I spritz and rinse. The citrus scent can sometimes be detected on the fruit after thorough washing, but it's mild and I don't mind.

I like this way better than FIT wash. It has a far better smell and doesn't leave a smell or residue on food. Try it, you will be happy with it.
