Most historical books of this area center around Tampa and Tarpon Springs, ignoring the rich and unique atmosphere that is Lutz and central Pasco County of the early 1900's and late 1800's. That's what makes this book so special. It is jammed packed with local history as well as hundreds of old photos, and as a native to this area, I couldn't put it down. Native or not, if you love old Florida history and want the real history of backwoods Florida with all of its lore of the railroad, logging industry and of the pioneers of its times, you will love this book.

As a lifelong Lutz resident, the wealth of information I have learned from this book has been interesting and enjoyable to learn about- and I still haven't finished the book. The authors did a wonderful job of including a balance of information and pictures that enhances the experience of any reader wishing to learn more about Lutz, Land O Lakes, and the surrounding areas. If you live in this cumulative community, then this book is sure to show you a side of the town that you have never seen before. If you are old enough to have known the early days, this book will bring back fond memories of your past. My grandmother, who has lived in the area for her entire life, thoroughly enjoys reading it as well. A multitude of maps are also included, showing how the area has changed over time. In addition, the book itself is sturdy and will probably last for many years. I reccomend this book to anyone who loves history, and any resident of the area.

This book is a must for anyone interested in Florida history. It beautifully documents an area of old Florida that is fast disappearing because of development. In addition to the well-written text, the photographs are compelling and capture a true image of a bygone era.

This is an enjoyable book, one for the coffee table. This is also a valuable reference book, one for the library shelf. And this is a beautiful book, one with quality paper, a handsome cover, and a striking dust jacket.
