A Fabulous Childhood Memory,
By A Customer
This review is from: City of Gold and Lead (Tripods) (School & Library Binding)
For anyone with a lifelong love of books, there are watershed works we read that define new perspectives for us and broaden our perceptions, even while we are thoroughly entertained by the story. I haven't seen this trilogy in over thirty years, and my memories of enjoying the first book, The White Mountains, is a vivid memory, not of a story, but of an experience. For a young reader with a taste for Sci-Fi, this story is gripping as it interlaces an imagined future and the personal growth of the young hero, who becomes an irresistable portal to vicarious adventure.

I read this book over 20 years ago and still feel the joy I had when going through the pages. At that time the book was in 3 volumes: The White Mountains, The City of Gold and Lead and the Pool of Fire.
This fascinating story line connects to the soul of the reader and takes him/her to the depth of human resistance agaisnt the new masters of Earth. A remarkable story. |
