Can't think of anything to do over the weekend? It's raining, it's snowing, it's too hot? Buy this book! This is a "must" for any parent or grandparent living in New York. Even though I brought up my children in the city so much has changed over the past 30 years. The city has become much more "kid friendly" and this book is imaginative, informational and right on. Anything I picked was worth doing. One activity in particular which I would have missed (had it not been pointed out) was the movie at the Central Park Zoo - definitely worth the detour!
I ended up buying the whole series.

Unlike many other New York City guidebooks I've read, which are outdated and limited, Alison Lowenstein's City Kid New York includes up-to-the-minute, comprehensive listings of parenting websites, enrichment activities, camps, theater and concert performances, museums, and lice checkers, among other vital subjects. One very interesting and unique section covers books, comics, literary landmarks, and book festivals. City Kid New York is a very useful resource for natives and relocating families alike. I'm already set to act on some of the author's recommendations.
