I just finished reading City of Masks by Mike Reeves and I must say that I loved it. The story was well thought out and gave a lot of history on Italy. The characters were realistic as well as the storyline. I highly recommend this book to anyone. It is a great read, and one that you will not be able to put down.

I picked city of masks up as an audio podcast through iTunes and loved it even though I started somewhere in the middle (iTunes is funny like that). I quickly went and picked up the parts I was missing. It was an entertaining read.
The premise is unique: a city (country) where everyone wears a mask which fixes their social role in society. That got me reading the book, but the murder mystery that is at the heart of the story kept me reading. There was also a good dash of romance, and plenty of courtly intrigue. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in fantasy or mystery who is looking for a new twist on the historical courtly society. |
