1.0 out of 5 stars don't buy this book
A member of our book club chose this book for our monthly book club meeting. When the book club met we all agreed it was one of the worst written (and edited) books we had ever read. It got a major thumbs down from the groups. Unbelievably bad.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Real Life Grail Mystery, August 3, 2008
This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)
Enjoy a mystery? Intrigued by secret societies, rituals, the Holy Grail and other-worldly spiritual quests? Good, then read on.

City of Secrets is a wonderfully written book and a gripping mystery. Chaplin's exciting new research takes place in and around the romantic and mysterious Spanish town of Girona.

Enthusiasts of Dan Brown novels will love it. Why? For a start it's about the Holy Grail - the real Grail, not the one you read about in fiction.

In City of Secrets, Chaplin draws on a lifetime of esoteric experience, research and associations, including friendships with Jean Cocteau, Salvador Dalí and Umberto Eco, to offer new insights into the mystery Rennes-le-Château (the story of a priest who discovers a heretical secret that threatens the church and produces incredible wealth); the real inspiration to Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code.

Chaplin, a proper novelist, writer and playwright, with dozens of works to her credit, including Albany Park and Siesta, which was made into a film staring Jodi Foster and Isabella Rossellini. Part of the Bohemian scene of the 50's and 60's, she was married to Charlie Chaplin's son and lived in Hollywood.

City of Secrets is a must read for any mystery lover, seeker of esoteric knowledge, or fan of great writing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Marvelous Read!!, March 4, 2009
This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)
I heard an interview given by the author on Coast to Coast AM with Ian Punnett and was hooked on getting the book. What a marvelous story this is. It truly is one that kept me up reading late several nights. The story may seem like just another love story at first, but the events and details will leave you with one of those "Wow" moments by the end of the book. I was interested in the story because it told the other half of a story that did not make great sense when I first began my research into Renne la Chateau France and Father Sonnier. Now, everything makes sense and the mystery is solved in my mind. What is so fascinating is that Patrice Chaplin was in the middle of one of the greatest secrets kept from this world and she finally was made a part of the adventure. Wow! Get it and read it and you will want more from this marvelous writer. The only sad thing is, there will be no more of this story unless...Jose comes back yet again! You will know what I mean once you have read this great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here, Starts the Journey, September 25, 2009
This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)
This is a beautiful book, poetically written, full of rich images
that come alive for the reader.
Partice Chaplin is different from any other Holy Grail researcher on the planet.
That's something!
It is also a love story on many levels.
This book is a "page turner" that's absolutely filled with intrigue.
In her youth and with her adventurous spirit, she
uncovered something that she herself knew nothing of until years later.
What has been revealed to her is amazing and wonderful for us all.
I don't want to give all it away...but City of Secrets is just
the beginning, but a very important beginning...into a powerful
journey indeed. I can't wait for the next book to be released.
I suggest you READ THE BOOK, YOU WILL LOVE IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Opening Pandora's Box of Space-Time Travels into The Fifth Dimension, May 18, 2009
This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)
For a critical-thinker, and feeler, like myself, I was intellectually and emotionally satisfied with its storyline, contents, and sacred revelations into the fifth dimension.

It is an open, heartfelt, honest diary of a beautiful, albeit at times tortured, soul seeking the truth of time-travel legends in the City of Secret mystery, the countryside mindscape known as Rennes-le-Chateau in France.

However, if one is not intimately involved in the Holy Grail and Knights Templar legends, then the multidimensional truth, reality of collapsing inner and outer space via trance technologies and an organic technology employing the blood, bones, and stones, as I put it, will be overlooked.

That is, the impact on our psyche long-term of what it means to be able to open "stargates" at will, put to work the sacred Phi ratio-Fibonacci geometry of Egyptian and Mayan cosmology, is upon us.

I ask that you read this book and do so reverently; Patrice Chaplin gave her life to bring it to us now. She has lived as a courageous Arthurian Knight of the Round Table existence that only happens when you follow your heart as it takes you into the "holy of holies," the Arc of the Covenant, the "angles" mapped by the Zodiac.

In other words, I warn you; this book is but a primer to prepare you for our brave new world to come beyond 2012.

Lawrence Gardiner, Margaret Starbird or any of the the hundreds of authors she's "borrowed" stuff from. It looks like a ploy to grab the tourist dollars from Rennes de Chateau and Roslyn Castle, to Spain. Dull.

Chaplin's new research and journey takes place in and around the mysterious Spanish town of Girona, that has a legend of a Tower of Magdala, that Sauniere duplicated at Rennes le Chateau and secret Kabbalist writings, that were sold to Templars of Salzburg leading to the Habsburgs of Austria, the SION and a secret stone in a fish pond.
There are also letters printed in this book to confirm the findings

3.0 out of 5 stars Eh, not great, not awful, June 2, 2011
By
This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)
While I enjoyed the sense of history, the main character was annoying and seemed willfully dense. At the end I felt let down because she chickened out when invited to share his journey. It felt like she was in love with the idea of loving him (and his passion for his cause) rather than actually loving him.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating!, July 20, 2010

This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)

An absolutely fascinating book. A look into the life of Patrice Chaplin beginning as a teenager traveling Europe with no real destination in mind until she came to Girona, Spain and knew this was where needed to be. Her life, her love and her experiences I envy very much. This book also explains the other half of the Rennes LeChateau mystery and Berenger Saunier. My, my Patrice, what a life you were able to live and I'm looking forward to your next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Thought it was going to end differently, February 7, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: City of Secrets: One Woman's True-life Journey to the Heart of the Grail Legend (Paperback)
I found the author hard to follow perhaps it was my lack of culture or education in understanding the story. In the end it was revealed to be a cult practice that she discovered not what I was wanting it to be in the end. I was wanting more information on Mary or Jesus, not the practices exposed.
