Hard To Describe...But Somehow, This Works,

This review is from: City & The Streets (MP3 Download)
This isn't your run-of-the-mill pop rock music, but it isn't so far out there that the melodies and musical stylings won't instantly resonate with you. Even though you'd probably have to label this Finnish band's overall musical direction as "Art-Rock", this particular song isn't so much so...a little difficult to describe but definitely pleasing aurally.
Combining raw, slightly-distorted guitars (along with a few harsher-toned lead lines), clean guitars, a 'small'-sounding 80's-style drumkit, synthesizers and a unique rhythm structure, with pop melodies sung using three distinctly unique vocal techniques, "City & The Streets" not only works but cries out cohesiveness comparable to The Cure. 100% worth the time to download it, and possible one you'd consider putting down money for if it wasn't free. |
