This beautiful guide takes you step by step through the excavation of the ancient Bronze Age city of Ugarit, modern-day Ras Shamra. Full illustrations, diagrams, schematics, and photographs transport you to a time and a place that played a crucial role in defining biblical religions today. Through the careful analysis, you can actually visualize yourself walking along the cluttered street and into the temple of Ba'al the storm god or through the king's palace. A far cry from typical dry tomes, this book is eye-candy for the Ancient Near East lover.

There is not much written about the archaeology of Ugarit ,It's been a surprise to find a book like this , this is a book very interesting with clear maps , photos and updated information ,the writer is one of the most authorized archaeologist about Ugarit world. The last part of the book shows the most important artistic pieces of the art of Ugarit .
