It's easy for guide books to go horribly wrong. When the information is out-of-date or when the books themselves are harder to navigate than the cities they were written for. With City Walks, there is an added convenience; you don't have to take the whole book with you (who wants to look like a stupid tourist, anyway?). Boston, being a notoriously hard city to navigate, was a breeze. Each "walk" is presented on an index-size card with a map of the walk on one side, and on the other a description of what it is you're walking by. Each walk is between a quarter of a mile and a mile and a half...easily accomplished for most. Don't make it your only source of information, but these City Walk books are definitely worth the price.

Boston City Walks,

I got this as a gift for a friend who was moving to Boston for school, and used it on trips when I went to visit. It's a great way to break up the city into manageable chunks. You can plan out your day and just take the cards you want, or take the whole box and wing it. These walks are very manageable; some are just a few blocks, and others might be a mile or so. Good mix of historical sites, shops, restaurants, etc. Best of all, easy-to-understand directions to get to each destination via public transportation (the T and/or the bus) are provided. Highly recommended!

Better for serious hikers than casual tourists,

I bought this item for a early fall trip to Boston and found that these cards were better suited for more serious walker/hikers than a casual tourist looking for cool spots in the city.
