very atmospheric,

I heard this while driving home in the middle of the night from a delayed flight into LaGuardia airport. Funny how late night classical stations sometimes get the mood JUST right. The highways were practically deserted, and the music accentuated the feel. This is beautifully austere music, and extremely well done. It reminds me of some of the modern pieces coming out of Skandanavia (e.g., Rene Eespere) but with a touch more lyricism. A great introduction to a modern composer I would never have discovered myself.

This would be perfect music to play while driving across Wyoming, Montana, or the high plains of Eastern New Mexico, out where all you've got is land and sky and the space around you is so big and empty it's frightening and exhilirating at the same time. You can almost see the red tail hawks circling and the antelope running when you listen to it.

This is an amazing work of music. My only real complaint is that it's not long enough. It's extremely peaceful and relaxing and is best enjoyed during a heavy rain or thunderstorm.

Slow moving and inevitable in its progression, the music is dominated by the piano rhythmically progressing through arpeggios of minor chords with haunting of strings and the winds in the background. I played trombone for years in school and I never had an opportunity to use the instrument as subtly as Jim Fox uses it here. At the end, we are left with an unresolved cadence that just leaves me without breath. This piece is that is quietly powerful, and is perfect for those times when you just want to think about sad things that you can not quite get the answer to in life. It offers no solutions, but does help us understand the questions.
