1.0 out of 5 stars Wildly inaccurate information., May 8, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Citypack Montreal, 1st edition (Paperback)
In my short stay in Montreal I tried to use this book 3 times, and each time it was wildly inaccurate (after the 3rd try I stopped using it!).

They had the wrong address for the Pointé-A-Calliére museum, the wrong cross street for a restaurant called Chez Delmo, and a recommended bar, "Le Grand Cafe", did not seem to exist (at least not at that location: they could have been wrong about the address again).

Montreal is a great city, but buy something else for a guide book (the only reason I gave this 1 star is because Amazon does not have a rating of 0).

3.0 out of 5 stars Brief but very portable, January 27, 2003

You need this book AND another guide book to really get all the info on Montreal. This book, in its nifty plastic sleeve complete with a full color large map (which is totally removable -- convenient but also prone to disappearing) was a great companion in Montreal. I tend to "turbo-vaction" -- see a great city in just a couple of days -- and thus I enjoy the "Top 25 Sights" approach. I also like to be able to carry my book in the back pocket of my jeans; this one fits nicely there, even after a meal of poutine et poulet or too many baguettes! I noticed some inaccuracies, but they were mostly minor and remediable by calling ahead. My advice is go to the public library and check out a large, comprehensive guide book. Make notes on details you find there or Xerox the key pages you need. Then carry the sleek "CityPack" with you as you actually explore this wonderful City -- a slice of Europe that is a 6 hour drive instead of a 6 hour flight away!
