3.0 out of 5 stars Great Pictures, but several mistakes, September 19, 2004
By
Jen (Fairbanks, AK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Civil Aircraft (The Aviation Factfile) (Hardcover)
I recently purchased this book and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It provides good history and great pictures, but in the technical data, there are tons of mistakes in the conversion from the metric system to the imperial system. For example in comparing the range between two aircraft, one aircraft has a longer range than the other when looking at the range in kilometers, but it is the other way around when looking at miles. The other complaint is that the book leaves out several aircraft which have been around for a while when this book was published, for example the 777 and A340.

This review is from: Civil Aircraft (The Aviation Factfile) (Hardcover)
I am a fan of aircraft since the age of 6 years (my age is now 36 years old), my two children now, 5 and 8 years loved the plane.
Although this book is not for children but my kids loved it too. This book is perfect for fans of aircraft as a collection, it was full of pictures and very interesting explanation.
Really I do not regret buying this book. Very suitable aircraft fans everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars 11-year old airplane buff LOVES it!!, June 4, 2009

This review is from: Civil Aircraft (The Aviation Factfile) (Hardcover)
My 11-year old is practically an airplane expert and this is his favorite book, though it's probably written for adults. The photos are beautiful and he uses them it inspire drawings. And, he says all the info is not only correct, but very thorough. Each style of plane has a dedicated page with pictures and loads of facts. Thank goodness it's a hard-bound or it would be completely worn out by now!
