I should have given more thought to the previous review! Talk about a big disappointment in the number of examples actually presented in this book. Very few problems have actually been solved and even these are quite too simple. I was expecting a book that would really help me prepare for the civil discipline specific portion of the EIT exam. Unfortunately this book only skims the top of major topics and does not go into any sort of detail whatsoever. The book itself is not much thicker than an average National Geographic. My suggestion would be to leave this book alone and study from reference text books.

INCOMPLETE!,

I was looking for a more comprehensive coverage like Michael R. Lindeburg reference manual for the topics mentioned in the civil review, especially for a person who has been out of school for sometime.More subject matter is required for the topics mentioned rather than just having some typical problems solved as it is done in the book for each topic!!

The book has two test and one practice test. The area this book covers are: Surveying, Hydraulics & Hydrology, Soils & Foundation, Env. Engg., Transportation, Structural Analysis & Design, Construction Management, and Materials. The practice exams are not that difficult but agian book is just to get you familiar with what kinds of question one can expect in the FE Civil part.

I see many reviews complaining about this book. Yes it's a bit short, and there could be more examples in it. In the book, there are 7-8 questions for each discipline area of civil worked out followed by 2 practice tests which include 30 questions each. To me this was better than nothing since many of the FE Civil books are lacking even this many questions. When I purchased this, I also bought the FE Civil review book by the NCEES (the guys who write the test). Their review book for civil contained only ~30 problems with terrible explanations.
I recommend buying this book because as of right now, it's the best civil book there is and it helped me pass the test so I believe it will help you as well.

I spent a while looking for a good book to help me study for the civil specific (afternoon) portion of the FE and this appeared to be the best option. Yes it is a small book approx 1/4 inch thick but it is better than nothing. It has approx 10 sample question for each topic in the afternoon exam with worked solutions. Then it has 2 practice afternoon exams with answers. The answer solutions could be more thorough, and having spent a while out of school, it can take some decoding to figure out how the question should be answered. It does not contain any principles or narratives in the topics, it is only questions and answers, but doing questions is a big part of studying for the FE. I have used this book in combination with the Lindeburg book for the morning exam - which can offer some insight into how to solve the topics that appear in both the morning and afternoon exams. In the absence of anything else i recommend this.

I give four stars to this book, because it help me to decide NOT to take the civil specific FE part. The book is not a review guide, it is a book of sample problems. Therefore DO NOT expect to have explanations about the Civil FE subjects on it.
If you do not remember much about your civil engineer courses, it is better to invest time studying from the general FE book sold by the same publisher, and to take the afternoon general FE exam.

Decent Book for Civil FE Exam,
This review is from: Civil Discipline-Specific Review for the FE/EIT Exam (Paperback)
This book is simply a set of problems and solutions of Civil Engineering problems that are similar to the FE. The problems in the book are on the level of the actual FE examination (unlike the general FE exam book) so you can see what to expect by using this book.
One major downside to this book is that it contains no formula sections like the main Lindeburg manual, so if you have forgotten these formulas then you probably either want to take the general afternoon exam or review from textbooks before using this book. It appears to me that this book was made more for people who are still in school or fresh out of school.

I just got this book and I am totally amazed! How can you write a "sample problems" book and name it "review"? If you are looking for review material for the FE exam, it is not the book.

This book is absolutely a waste of money. No study material is discussed. Not many worked out problems are given.
