A excellent historical account of the Chinese Civil War from the point of view of ordinary journalists and Chinese Civilians. Weighing the options and the pro-con's of both the KMT(Nationalists) and the CCP(Communists) of China in terms of policies, this work detailed successes and the failures of both sides with equally dispassionate facts of the day. It did, however, missed the critical era of KMT/CCP split before 1945, and thus presented only part of the history. Most of all, it presented the clear case understanding of "why China turned Red". Definitely worth reading for unbiased historians.
