Editorial Reviews

The Monitor VS. The CSS Virginia: In March of 1862, the South's CSS Virginia came face to face with the North's Monitor at Hampton Roads river, Virginia. for over three hours , the two hulking "ironclads" lobbed shells at one another. Though the battle ended in a draw, it spelled the end of the era of wooden fighting ships. The Gray Ghost: John Singleton Mosby: The 125-pound "Gray Ghost" of the Confederacy was given full authority to operate his 800 men without interference from ranking officers. The result was the development of guerilla warfare and an extension of the war for six months.
