This is not a quilt pattern book. Those who want a quilt pattern will be disappointed. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the diary entries and planning a quilt from the patterns pictured. It is possible to transfer the designs to patterns if you are patient and have some quilting experience. A wonderful addition to any quilter's library.

This book is really great if your looking to use up some of your civil war era fabrics! Or, even if you're not and want to make it a little more modern! The pictures of the blocks are very clear and you can easily sew them up if you a little quilting experience. There are some general instructions provided at the beginning of the book - but it's not a sew this to this type of thing.
I'm not super 'into' reading the letters - but the quilt results are gorgeous!

I love this book. The fact that the blocks are with the love letters makes it rather fun to do them up while you read. I have other books by this author and love all of them, especially Amish Circle Quilt.

I was very pleased with the service and the condition of the book. My original book was ruined when our ceiling leaked. I was disappointed because I hadn't finished the quilt that I was making and because I wanted to give the book with the quilt as a gift to my brother-in-law who does Civil War re-enactments.

For anyone who loves history and sewing or quilting, this book is great. The letters are of the day-to-day lives of both the soldiers and family members back home. How the crops are doing, finances, and the health (or lack of it} of the family are usual topics. The soldiers write of fears,hopes,daily routines and being lonely. I love to sit and sew, using the wonderful reproduction fabrics and make the quilt blocks just as the women of the civil war era did.

This was a great buy and a great book. Would recommend for anyone that quilts or loves to read about the Civil War history.

This is a great book if you are interested in knowing what a few women were feeling and thinking while there loveone was at war.
How they would think of them. How they would make a quilt block to feel closer to there loveone. How they would not see or hear from there loveone for a very long time. How these quilt block make them feel closer.

This is a very touching book. The storie are great ,very moving.
I would recommend this book to anyone that might have an interest of the Civil war

I loved this book which gave a glimpse of the soldier's life during the civil war and wonderful blocks to add to my quilting patterns.

Book is very disappointing, dont even know how to quilt from it, very poorly laid out for a quilter.
Wish I could sell it back.
