Fantastic! The version I needed! Installing it in Win7 was tricky. The old forum gave an enormous hint! Installation failed first in the netbooks, but maybe there was someone else in there... ;) To run the game you have to change your screen resolution first to 600X800, start the game, (load the game), open a city display and return the resolution to the normal resolution in your computer. The game is reading the resolution to size the city _dialog_ _box_ but was not ready for higher resolutions, so once values are set, (at 600X800), the city display accomodates in the screen and no longer goes our of graphical scope. THEN... in this OS version three iconic windows show up and the game stalls in a black screen... You have to use the Alt+Tab combination to select the game icons and order them; once the _smallest_ windows blackens the main window, you can press Enter blind and the game windows collapse into a single process and the game starts normally! Though in one of the installations the intro movie did run right away and _sometimes_ the application process does not split. Memory and processor footprints are very small, perfect for a hibernating netbook.

It would be DESIRABLE that publishers prepare a USB STICK/FLASH DRIVE version. I have to have a CD reader at hand to run the game should the OS has to be rebooted or anything.

Maybe the publishers should also provide access to the source code? Mobile Cities are a must! And easy to implement... like carrier units, but they would hold units AND get yields from the surrounding ground. The scenario language would also benefit from some tinkering with. The .SCR should be published too, to make changing graphics/animations, easier; I want to change the color palette for some very flat drawings. I remember some pages dealt with the theme but have to search deeper...

Now, if you could ALSO provide the original Win3.1 WinCiv and the DOS version would be great!

It is actually far better than the actual game, which is saying something. A lot of new things to control, and new ways to tell the story, almost feels like a new game and definately feels more like the missing piece between 2 and 3.

Yes, it met my expectations ... great classic game that I got addicted to long ago! I found that later releases of Civ made it too complicated and reduced the fun of crushing other civilizations! :)

Excellent game with great depth. Random map generator means that you will never run out of new challenges. Particularly interesting is trying to colonise Alpha Centauri.
