4.0 out of 5 stars Probably the Easiest Automatic Timer to Set
The Claber 15 Pre-Set Cycle Water Timer seems very well made and is extremely easy to use. However, I'm not sure I would've purchased the unit had I known what the actual pre-set times were. I've had my timer for just over one year. I replaced the battery when it had stopped working and it worked for that watering session only. The website indicated that I should clean the filter screen and completely disassemble the guts of the timer and wipe (or rinse) it clean, which I did. It is working properly now. We'll see how long it lasts before I have to do...

4.0 out of 5 stars Probably the Easiest Automatic Timer to Set, June 15, 2006
This review is from: Claber 8444 Aquauno Logica Water Timer (Lawn & Patio)
The Claber 15 Pre-Set Cycle Water Timer seems very well made and is extremely easy to use. However, I'm not sure I would've purchased the unit had I known what the actual pre-set times were. (I like to water 30 minutes in the morning and 30 in the night.) I did extensive online research to find them (including visiting the Claber web site), and nowhere is the watering times listed. So - here for your enlightment are the 15 pre-set watering times:

1. 2 minutes, every 6 hours
2. 5 min, 6 h
3. 2 min, 12 h
4. 5 min, 12 h
5. 10 min, 24 h
6. 5 min, 24 h
7. 15 min, 24 h
8. 30 min, 24 h
9. 60 min, 24 h
10. 90 min, 24 h
11. 30 min, 48 h
12. 60 min, 48 h
13. 60 min, 72 h
14. 90 min, 72 h
15. 120 min, every week

Several final notes - I have high water pressure and I tried to use a Gilmour 9400 water timer - it didn't work but so far the Claber has. Also, there is no manual override to water immediately- in other words, I can't press a button to have it water right then without losing my programmed watering times. (Gilmour could do this.) However, to set the timer all I have to do is rotate the switch - it simply couldn't be easier.

I've had my timer for just over one year. I replaced the battery when it had stopped working and it worked for that watering session only. The website indicated that I should clean the filter screen and completely disassemble the guts of the timer and wipe (or rinse) it clean, which I did. It is working properly now. We'll see how long it lasts before I have to do this maintenance again. Most users may not be comfortable taking it completely apart and this should not be necessary in a product at this price.

I have a rechargeable 9-volt battery in it now and I should check it every month or so to be sure it is still working. The Claber is definitely a lot better quality than the Gilmour before it that only lasted a month or two. If the Claber fails after the two year warranty expires, I'll probably try the Orbit timer.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Easiest Timer Ever, January 11, 2009

As a landscaping contractor, I get to use a lot of timers on various irrigation projects. This is the easiest ever for hooking up to a hose. I buy these for my clients to use because they are foolproof.

Although we've never used a hose timer before, I carefully read all the reviews before purchasing this one. It has not disappointed! It works exactly as it's described, and we haven't had any problems with it at all. We've had it set up for about a month, and we haven't had to change the 9Volt battery yet. We DID have to do some adjusting to the water flow from the hose for the 1st few days, but once we found the right flow rate, it works perfectly. We recommend it HIGHLY.

3.0 out of 5 stars Claber Watering timer, June 27, 2008
This review is from: Claber 8444 Aquauno Logica Water Timer (Lawn & Patio)
Decent product--several drawbacks.
No way to set the timer for a different time than the time you do it.
Intervals should be greater than one hour.
I left a previous purchase outside during the winter and it cracked. My fault but I'm having a terrible time getting it repaired. Distributor company is not responsive.

Note: Although this unit has a lot of watering period choices, it does not allow one to set time-of-day programming--unless, of course one waits and sets it at lets say 6:00 a.m....

Well made, resistant to the moisture intrusion that has been a problem with other timers I've tried, very simple to install and set.

5.0 out of 5 stars It is the best brand water timer. Very well made., September 25, 2010

This review is from: Claber 8444 Aquauno Logica Water Timer (Lawn & Patio)
It is very well made. Very simple to use. I just wish it had a simple on and off button to turn on the water without messing up the timer. Each time you turn the dial, it changes the setting for the timer. So you need to set it up at 6am, if you want the water to come on 6am; which could be a pain. I ended up buying another model of Claber which has a timer, on and off button as well. Have different applications for both, and I am extremely happy with both of them. Claber is no doubt the best brand to buy in the US. I learned it the hard way; after wasting my money on Ray padula, which is definitely the worst one in the market. Comparing Claber to that thing, is like comparing a Ferrari to a push cart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Vacation Plant Saver ... IT WORKS, August 9, 2009

This review is from: Claber 8444 Aquauno Logica Water Timer (Lawn & Patio)
It works great ... Very simple to use ... The only problems we had were not reading the directions. Make sure the battery leads are plugged in and give it the 10 seconds noted in the directions to reset when you change settings ... The first one worked so well we purchased a second timer.

I've used a number of other brands, and haven't been overly impressed with faucet timers in this price range. The Claber, however seems to work well, does not leak, and has not stopped working after full time duty since the Spring.

Pros:
Dependable
Quick release built in

Cons:
Timer is very analogue and does not have a ton of timing options. I actually had to resize my drippers to accommodate the water schedule. The most you can get out of it in one day is 20 minutes (5minx4), but it ranges all the way up to weekly waterings if that's a need.
