Made in China, with the price that you pay for All-Clad??? I own alot of All-clad, and have always payed top dollar for it, and always been greatly impressed, and very happy. But with this item, I think I would be sending this one back. I do know that some if not all the big stock pots are made in China, But that is a different story. But a Braiser, come on. This...

5.0 out of 5 stars Lucky me!, March 16, 2010
This review is from: All Clad Stainless-Steel 6-Quart French Braiser with Rack (Kitchen)
I bought this braiser from a website that sells All-Clad irregulars, not Amazon. The same day I found bad reviews on Amazon saying - This braiser is made in China, its not 3-ply and inferior quality. I was very stressed, that I spent my money on a pot, that is not as versatile as I need it to be and not the quality I expected. I was planning to use it for frying, sauteing, baking, casseroles and braising, even soup if i wanted. Well, when the pot arrived, first I checked the box, it said - COOKWARE MADE IN THE USA. LID AND RACK MADE IN CHINA. There also was a sticker NO RACK, I guess they do not come with irregulars, I didn't care for it anyway. After I opened the box I found a perfect pot, as you would expect from All-Clad. It was 3-Ply, aluminum goes up the sides. It was very well made, I compared it to my first quality 6 QT. All-Clad casserole, they are equal in weight, workmanship and quality. The only flaw I could find on the "irregular" braiser was a discoloration a size of a human hair on the underside of the pot. When I touched it I couldn't even feel it. I could hardly even see it, I got 20-20 vision. I only found it, because I was looking for it. So, I got a perfect pot at a discount price and its all All-Clad. Still I wanted to be sure, so I called All-Clad and talked to a rep. She asked - What does the box say? I said - Cookware made in the USA. So she said - "Your pot was made in the USA. Yes, there are some braisers that are made in China now, the box will say so". So I guess I got some of the old stock, that was made in the USA and was sitting in a warehouse waiting for me. Lucky me! So if you want to buy this braiser, ask the seller - What does the box say? Amazon has a "new and improved" model, I guess. I am going to update my review after I actually cook in the braiser, for now I am just admiring its beauty. Good luck everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!, February 11, 2011

I purchased this pan and have just started using today! The size is great, I see lots of family meals being cooked in it. It is the wonderful All-Clad quality we have come to expect.
The Pan is made in the USA and the rack and lid are made in China.
All-Clad cleans up nicely and of course it looks beautiful.
If you cook for large groups or a big family this is a must.
The cost is high, but you wont be sorry!!

5.0 out of 5 stars this is my favourite pan, January 18, 2011

This is absolutely my favourite pan and I've used it nearly every day since I got it about 3 weeks ago. It's my first experience of All-Clad. It replaces a Tefal Jamie Oliver Professional non-stick 12" saute pan which had a very similar shape to the All-Clad braiser but in less than a year the non-stick started to peel off so that was hopeless - what a waste, great functionality, useless execution. The All-Clad is a superb replacement and I don't imagine it will ever wear out so the daily cost of ownership is small. It is great on the induction hob and with the handles either side it goes in the oven easily as well. The domed lid makes a nice refluxing condenser on the hob, like a tagine. The cooking technique is a bit different but the information on All-Clad's website explains all. I have not yet found a use for the wire rack but I'm sure I shall in time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Made in the USA, December 7, 2010

The pan is made in the USA. All Clad's lids are all made in China. The rack is also made in China. It's all disclosed on All Clad's documentation that they include with their products. The pan is perfect if you know how to brown on stainless materials. Heat the pan on low-med until 1/8 tsp water beads up in ONE ball like a mercury ball, then you know the pan (or any stainless pan) is ready for browning proteins without sticking. You can perfectly roast/braise/stew a large bone in chuck roast for example, with vegs or a taller pork roast that needs the taller sides. These other reviews are goofy.

I'm writing a 'PRE-review" because based on my other A-C purchases I'm very excited about this one.

I wanted a pan with loop handles that could go from cooktop to oven, could fry chicken, saute, & bake.
When I found this pan .....and it had the rack too... I was thrilled. I'll be able to roast with it as well.

It seems perfect for my needs.
I don't usually make a purchase without reading reviews but there were none for this pan. So I made an exception this time.

I'll let you know how it works out.

EMERGENCY EDIT!!!!!

FOUND OUT THAT THIS PAN IS NOT MADE IN USA AS AMAZON CLAIMS.....IT'S MADE IN CHINA!
IT IS NOT 3PLY 'CLAD' EITHER.

I CALLED ALL-CLAD DIRECTLY & THE REP TOLD ME THAT ALL THE BRAISERS ARE MADE IN CHINA.
(BUT THEY CHARGE REAL ALL-CLAD PRICES.....THAT'S WHAT ANNOYS ME)

I'M GONNA HAVE TO STRIP THEM OF THEIR STARS.
