Changing Earth Book REview,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Claiming Earth as Common Ground: The Ecological Crisis Through the Lens of Faith (Paperback)
Anyone who is interested in the faith link to the environment must read this book. It's extremely well written and researched. The author makes a very strong case for care and nurturing of the earth being a fundamental requirement for all people of faith.
I think it should be required reading for theology students, and for those seeking a "modern" way to understand the importance of religion in our daily lives.

A Very Useful Tool to Help Us Expand the Community Facing This Spiritual Crisis,
By David Crumm "Editor of ReadTheSpirit magazine" (Canton, Michigan) - See all my reviews (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)
This review is from: Claiming Earth as Common Ground: The Ecological Crisis Through the Lens of Faith (Paperback)
There are dozens of good books linking faith and the natural world these days, but if you're looking for a single "good read" for 2010, pick up this sturdy paperback. I call it sturdy, because this volume is built to be useful including a study guide if you'd like to discuss the book with your small group over eight sessions.
Veterans in this movement will recognize names like Bill McKibben, who wrote a recommendation for the back cover, and the Rev. Sally Bingham, the founder of Interfaith Power and Light, who wrote the Foreword. The usefulness of this book is its breadth. Eboo Patel even contributed a Muslim perspective and you'll find Tariq Ramadan's viewpoint mentioned as well. This is the kind of bold expansion we need in the global community to confront what this book correctly calls "A Spiritual Crisis." |
