4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to the series
The O'Connels series has not disappointed yet. This is Cullen's story and as a different approach is told from the man's side, not the woman's. We actually get to find out what's in the man's mind.

Cullen is a bit on the arrogant side. He's a successful attorney who meets law student Marissa at a conference. He is used to being pursued by women and when...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cranky Marrissa!
I enjoyed the beginning of this- you know, it started out with a family party/gathering and it all seemed like a nice, warm, loving family, so I liked them :) I loved the dialogue between the hero and the heroine, I loved that she was an intelligent spit-fire who knew what she wanted. I also found the fact that the hero couldn't get over their first night together (as...

4.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful addition to the series, August 17, 2006
This review is from: Claiming His Love-Child (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)

He is used to being pursued by women and when one actually sleeps with him and then disappears his ego is hurt. The worst part is she was the most sexually compatible woman he had met. He finds he can't forget Marissa and goes looking for her. What he finds is she's thrown away a full paid scholarship and disappeared. When he manages to find her she is working long hours at a burger joint, living in a seedy neighborhood and then he finds out she's pregnant. He asks if the child is his and she says yes but doesn't want anything from him. She was abandoned by her own father as a child and is determined that she can give her child enough love.
When Cullen demands Marissa marry him, his ego is deflated when she says no. He finally persuades her and they start out miserable. When Cullen finally realizes he needs to stop being so demanding, he tries wooing his wife. They are in love with each other but neither knows the others feelings. When Cullen introduces his new wife to his older brother, she is made to feel like a scam artist. Cullen proves his mettle when he stands up for her. The only thing wrong with this story is the relationship seems rushed and we don't have enough time to see their relationship develop. Otherwise this is a really great story

2.0 out of 5 stars Just not for me, January 19, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Claiming His Love-Child (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
I'm finding myself more and more incline to skip Sandra Marton's old work and just stick to the latest novels. This book was simply boring, and for having two very intelligent main characters, they sounded most of the time, like idiots. I never felt the attraction between them. Marissa just did not act like a top of the class law student, more like a simpering idiot, crying every two minutes and second guessing everything. Cullen on the other hand, well..., I never got to know him. Apparently he was some top shot lawyer or something alike.

Now, for my pet peeve, this is my second or third harlequin book I find with the same errors. When having a character speak words, sentences other than english ( in this case spanish) please writers, proof read your work. Don't editors do that?????? I know spanish, so when I read thinhs that were gramatically incorrect I was annoyed by them. The spanish dialogues sounded like something you put on google translator and eventhough it translates the main idea, it is not correct gramatically.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cranky Marrissa!, September 8, 2011

I enjoyed the beginning of this- you know, it started out with a family party/gathering and it all seemed like a nice, warm, loving family, so I liked them :) I loved the dialogue between the hero and the heroine, I loved that she was an intelligent spit-fire who knew what she wanted. I also found the fact that the hero couldn't get over their first night together (as arrogant as he was) so sweet. The second half of the book was just kinda meh for me. Marissa became too weepy for my liking ( for just cause, yes, I was a weepy old soul during my pregnancies too so I understand but...) It's a good book all in all, not my favorite but still one of the nice ones.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Read, May 3, 2007
This review is from: Claiming His Love-Child (Harlequin Presents) (Mass Market Paperback)
The book was a good read but should have developed the growing love between the hero and heroine. There seemed to be a lot of time spent arguing. I didn't feel that the characters knew enough about each other to truly have a strong bond.

"Sandra Marton writes a story that will tear at your heart as Marissa tries to make it on her own. Cullen was angry and stubborn about his child's well being. Marissa and Cullen continued to fight the attraction that had gotten them into trouble in the first place. Will they overcome their past and start a bright new future for them and their child? This is a great addition to the The O'Connells series. I recommend that you get a copy of Claiming His Love-Child, settle back and enjoy."

This book is a wonderful story of love that transcends class distinctions and ethnic origins. Marton's sensual writing and wonderful settings lead to a very engaging read about true love O'Connell style. CLAIMING HIS LOVE CHILD is a great story that will leave the reader eagerly anticipating the next story in the O'Connell series.

Wow is all I can say. Sandra Marton did an incredible job with her alpha, Cullen. I sat up all night just to see how Cullen would resolve his feelings for Marrisa and how he would cope with fatherhood. A passionate and suspenseful story in the O'Connell series.

"Every Sandra Marton release is a reason for rejoicing, and CLAIMING HIS LOVE-CHILD is no exception. Told mostly from Cullen's point of view, this wonderful Presents will take the reader on an emotional roller coaster of a ride as Cullen works through his feelings for Marissa, their unborn child, and their marriage."
