It covers the gray very well.

Only reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have not been using it long enough to be 100 % on it.

The product is good to use for quick color.

Color Name: Cedar-Red Brown
I just purchased this from a discount beauty supply yesterday and used it this morning. I have somewhat dry, color-treated hair in a neutral red shade that was fading fast. This particular color gave me the coppery deep red I like, without the weird purple tint of some other red dyes I have tried. In addition, this is the shiniest my hair has been after coloring. The smell is pleasant. I will definitely use this again, but I will do a few things differently next time because I found the product to be extremely messy. Next time I think I will shampoo and towel dry like the instructions say, but I think I will actually put the product on my hair in the shower and sit out the 25 minutes there. This stuff is very drippy and even though I was careful, I wound up with droplets here there and everywhere. I put on a clear disposable cap that helped a little, but still - very messy and that's coming from an experienced "bathroom chemist" who has used a lot of hair coloring.

I left the product on for 25 minutes as directed and I rinsed but did not let the water run completely clear. It's a little trick I do to "set" the color so it lasts longer. Once I had most of the product out and the water still had a little tint still showing, I put on my regular cheapo conditioner, rinsed it out and blew my hair dry. I was pleased that the color didn't "grab" on the ends of my hair and make them too dark like some other products have done. So - I got a nice even tone - very shiny, soft and a vibrant copper red tone. Why haven't I heard of this stuff before? 4 stars instead of 5 because of the mess.

Many reviews complain that this product stains hands, towels, wall paper, robes etc. This is why hair colorists use gloves and plastic capes! All semi-permanent or permanent tint is absolutely going to stain. Find a tinting shirt and use it over and over- let it stain. Have 2 towels for the same person, one to drape around you to catch any drips- one hand towel for your eyes or face. Use jaws to keep it up while tinting! If you have long hair and let it flop about, you are going to get it on everything! Use plastic jaws only, metal clips will react with tint. If you are going to comb it through for the last five minutes, step in your shower so you do not splatter on your woodwork and wallpaper, etc. While it is tinting. wipe off excess on ears and face, but you must cover this area, so do not wipe off the tint - reapply if you do. Some people use a face cream or even vaseline around hair line to keep it from tinting skin- I do not. That is too risky to leave spots of hair that will now not absorb tint. Look behind you and around after application and clean up any thing that splattered IMMEDIATELY. It will come off if you find it right away-but on the wall paper, your doomed. THIS IS NEVER COMING OUT OF FABRICS-if it does, you are just lucky. Assign yourself a tinting shirt, one with buttons is better, pulling over your head will make a mess. Don't use your robe- unless you don't care if you trash it. All tint is designed to be non-drip. Do use the plastic jaws- this will allow you to section it so you avoid overlap and hit the roots all over. It really is not difficult to do. It would help if you watched someone else section and apply tint. It will seem easier after you watch someone else do it. Buy those plastic jaws! Tinting HAS a learning curve!Read more ›

I have very short hair cut. My color grows out fast. I apply Clairol Beautiful Color in between touch-ups. It covers the gray and allows more time before I have to go for the re color. It is a tempory color and washes out. It does not come off on clothing or pillow cases. Only reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because I have not been using it long enough to be 100 % on it. The Amazon price beats the price at the local beauty supplly. I am a licensed beautician. The product is recommended for pros use. It is simple enough for any one to use. Just apply to a washed and toweled dryed head.

I like this product because it is the closest thing to the loving care that was discontinued. I can't use certain dyes because I am allergic to ppd in hair colors. So this is great.

I think I am going to stick with this product. Every time I go to the hair stylist for a hair color, my hair gets incredibly dry. Clairol Beautiful Collection seems to be a conditioner for my hair: it leaves it really soft and manageable and I love that. Great production (I use the "black" haiir color)

Another wonderful product that should have never been discontinued. I use it for the "in between" colorings. It is fast, true to color, and great for the touch up around the airline to extend the time between the full color job.
