Great ice house!, January 2, 2012
This review is from: ClamŽ Base Camp Thermal 6x6' Hub Pop - Up Icefishing Shelter (Misc.)
Received this as a 2011 Christmas gift. I have been out with it 4 times in the last week and it is really a great shelter. I toyed with exchanging it for the Clam Yukon or Nanook that have seats attached to the sled, but after looking at this one set up in the store, I am glad I kept it. It pops up literally in about a minute and is warm within 5 minutes with a Buddy heater and stays warm and comfortable with the heater set on "low." The house is plenty big for 3 people to fish, and if need be, you can squeeze in 4 to fish. This is where it beats the Yukon type house, hands down. In the other style house, you don't have the room to fish more than 2 people, plus the ceiling height is 84" in the Base Camp, plenty high to stand and stretch without hitting your head. Another plus is that it comes with a storage duffel bag and weighs only 38 pounds. The 2 man Yukon or Nanook both weigh about 85 pounds and don't have the head room this one does. I can put this duffel bag in the back of my Tahoe along with heater, chairs, vexilar, auger, etc. and have some room to spare. We were out this afternoon in 4 degree weather with a strong wind and were fishing in sweatshirts inside the Base Camp. Enjoy!
