This novel is an extension of the world created in the light-hearted CLAMP School manga such as CLAMP School Detectives, Campus Defenders Duklyon, and Man of Many Faces, even with the inclusion of campus-destroying monsters. The characters aren't similar to the ones in that run of manga, however; they're more jokes than characters at this point, but they amused me enough to keep reading.

The CLAMP illustrations add to the text, as we can see what the characters would look like, but their omission would not detract from the text. The manga at the end is amusing (and remember to flip it when you read it; it's running right-to-left) and is just an extra bit of character fun as opposed to plot fun.
