When Ubisoft came out with Rainbow Six: Vegas for the psp, I was a little skeptical. 3.0 out of 5 stars SOCOM is a much better game.
Both SOCOM games,Metal Gear series and Killzone are all much better games. I waited 2 months for this game and picked it up at Best Buy the day it came out. 7 hours later I was finished with it. Graphics are nice, but missions last about ten minutes and are without any real payoff. NONE of the buildings can be entered. Not much in the way of co-op play. AI consists of the...

The graphics are very good for a handheld and gameplay is fun and varied. Sound is also another good feature but isn't spectatular. I have played this game on the Xbox 360 which is better than the PSP version. All in all, this is a great addition to your PSP library and it's always fun to have a game that's also available on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Those weanie nintendo games can't stack up to what major handheld and console games have to offer!

5.0 out of 5 stars Short Campaign, Awsome Multiplayer, August 31, 2010
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Video Game)
I am a fan of Tom Clancy games. GRAW 2 ,I think,is the best so far. It has a short campaign but it is very fun. Multiplayer is the best. There's four different modes to play: Campaign, Firefight, Defend, and Recon

Campaign
Is the same accept with a friend.

Firefight
Is where you and a friend go around killing tangos.

Defend
Is where you and a friend protect two trucks.

Recon
Is when you and a friend scout out some areas.

Graphics: 8.5/10
Sound:9/10
Gameplay:9/10
controlls:9/10
Story:7.5/10

Overall a pretty awsome game.

AI consists of the enemy running around like a chicken without a head. Weapons are nice. No replay value. 3 stars is very generous. Tactical Strike comes out November 6th.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Fun Game, June 19, 2008

A great first person shooter for the PSP. Ghost Recon is a lot better than SOCOM, but isnt as good as Syphon Filter. The graphics arent nearly as good as Syphon Filters. Its a really easy game to play, and easy to eliminate the guerillas. There is no blood, but that doesn't stop the game from being really exiting. There are only 10 "missions" in campaign mode but there are still tons levels. I beat the game on medium mode in 3 days. If you are looking for a fun, tactical, easy, first person shooter this is the game for you.
Here are my ratings:
Gameplay 9/10
Graphics 7/10
Sound 8/10
Plot 7/10
Overall 8/10
A MUST GET FUN!!!

This game was custom made from the ground up for the PSP and it shows. This game is awesome and it only makes you wonder...what if they put this much attention into a PS2 and Xbox version...?

4.0 out of 5 stars Definitely Worth It!, February 15, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Video Game)
I have been thinking about getting this game on and off for a year now. Other games have come in between such as Medal of Honor 1&2(Both amazing games) and Socom Fireteam Bravo 2(Slower paced and fun while it lasted). There was a general feel that GRAW 2 was just an average or bad shooter in what I saw online. But I am happy to say that I am glad I got this game to add to my collection of PSP shooters.

It has fun and exciting missions that are just the right length, a good checkpoint system, and a good variety of weapons. It has the weapon variety of Socom but its gameplay leans closer to Medal of Honor. The controls are not quite as good as MOH's, though, because it can be hard to aim precisely without using a scope. Unfortunately, when you fire your weapon, the recoil has no affect on your aim. There are two view options, 3rd person and 1st person. The 1st person mode does not show your weapon, and you cannot use its iron sights. The way the enemies behave is not the best(its not their intelligence, just the general feel), but they do their job. The actual gameplay is fun and enjoyable, and it is nice how you can use a variety of explosives when destroying various things. The UAV is perhaps your coolest asset, and it is especially cool to be able to actually see it.

I have not yet completed the game, but what I have seen so far makes it seem like I'll be playing for a long time. The extra modes are fun, but I wish there was a dedicated Skirmish mode like in Medal of Honor Heroes 1.

***Update***
After playing through several of the levels(including the not-so frustrating escort missions), I have decided that this game is one of the best that I have had for my PSP. I love how you can approach different objectives with differently every time. This I am sure will lead to much replayability once the exciting campaign has been completed.

I just wish that there were more extra levels to play.

2.0 out of 5 stars good, but short., November 15, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Video Game)
Well, it was certainly a well made game, and i'm sure that thought was put into it. there are several pros and cons to this game i should address however.

Graphics: 9/10
gorgeous on the psp, lush surroundings, varying level design, and large levels all add to the atmosphere, no complaints in this department, it even has a fairly decent fog of war.

Controls: 8/10
For a first person/over the shoulder shooter on the PSP, the controls are fairly decent, having already played and beaten Gun Showdown , these were nothing new. The psp, lacking a second thumbstick, has been harsh on FPS/3PS genre. Nevertheless, the controls worked. There are some complaints though, weapon switching is slow and awkward as is weapon mode switching, this can can get you killed if you need to switch your weapons in a firefight.

AI: 3/10
Nothing bright, or accurate either, the only time i got killed was making stupid decisions, or trying to switch weapons in the heat of battle. Sometimes an enemy will have seen you, but will simply run around for a while giving you ample time to kill him (they don't have much life, 2-3 shots can take most enemies out). Many enemies won't see you until you're fairly close either, if you use your scouting drone to look ahead in the level, you can simply pick off most enemies from a distance without any trouble, they'll rarely hit you unless they're close enough.

Gameplay: 3/10
Beat the game in all of 3 days, it was well made and published, but very little replay value, and very short in total, not a whole lot for your money. for the FPS fans out there, i would suggest SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo or SOCOM U.S. Navy Seals Fireteam Bravo 2. Both have much more gameplay, replay, and unlockables.

Speaking of which, this game has no unlockables to offer, besides being able to replay previous levels, there is only one difficulty level, so no way to play it again on a harder difficulty. After the game was done, i didn't know what else to do, (multiplayer is only ad-hoc: see below)

Multiplayer: --/10
No online multiplayer, just ad-hoc, which is alright i guess, but only if i had friends who would put up the money for this game. It seems it would work, so i give it a hypothetical 8/10

so what can we conclude? if this was rentable, go for it, borrow it, it's not very rewarding. The gameplay, although decent, is very quick, and not worth more than $5-10. I wouldn't suggest this game.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing too spectacular, but a fun ride all the same., January 27, 2009
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Video Game)
I was a big fan of the advanced warfighter series. I have the original on pc and the second for playstation. I knew that this one would clearly be different given that it is on a handheld system.

Overall, it is a fun game, but the control scheme seemed a bit odd at first. After experimenting with the different schemes, I found one that I liked although it still took a while to master it. If you liked the story of the console/pc counterpart, don't expect much here. This game totally lacks the intensity that makes the other version work. But having said that, this is just an action game and the story is more than enough to tie the gunbattles together.

The shooting is nothing out of the ordinary, however. Most of the time you are just walking from point a to point b, killing all the bad guys in-between. Although there is one scene where you have to escort a convoy that proves to be particularly frustrating.

If you want to buy a third-person shooter for your psp, I'd recommend SOCOM: Fireteam Bravo. It is much more fun and the controls are more intuitive. However, if you just want a game where you can run around and kill terrorists, this is plenty fun, too.
