After watching the movie "Black Hawk Down" I had an urge to play a more realistic first-person shooter game than Half-life 2 or Unreal Tournament, and this game certainly delivers. The graphics is very good (I definitely feel like I was fighting in Mexico City, albeit in a city devoid of any civilians or bystanders), and the ballistic feels realistic. You definitely have to be very careful and plan your every move if you don't want to die every other minute, and this makes this game very engaging. The one potential downside of this game is that you can only save at preset points, and coupled with the challenging nature of game, makes it necessary to play certain stages multiple times in other to finish. Otherwise this is a very fine game, and I recommend that you give it a try!

Great Tactical Action ...,

I am several hours into this game so far, and I must say it has been challenging, frustrating, exciting, and fun. Even on the "easy mode" this game is quite a challenge. I have discovered that there is a right way and wrong way to complete a mission and you have to "think" it through and plan out your team's tactics (this is NOT a run and gun game), making it a lot of fun when you accomplish the job or very frustrating when you take a bullet to the head and have to try it again and again. By the way, there are only save check points, but they seem to be reasonably placed so far.
The AI of your team mates is quite variable. Sometimes they follow your commands and do well, then other times they go to locations not commanded to go to, resulting in their death or screwing up your planned tactics. Sometimes it's more work just getting them into proper locations and following their commands, than actually completing the mission. But it's all been fun so far. The support weapons you get to use to complete your missions are loads of fun, too (ie. the spy drone, black hawk and artillery support, etc.) I am running this game on my 5+ year old Dell Dimension E510 Pentium 4 3.4GHz with XP, a 9600gt card, 3MB ram (nothing special) and I am able to max all video settings with great performance. Graphics, physics, ballistics, and sound effects are all fantastic. Be aware that Ubisoft includes Secure-Rom software and the DVD disc is needed to play the game (I searched and found a "no-DVD" file to work around this minor issue). First thing to do is update the game with the latest patch (1.35), then apply the no-DVD v1.35 and it's all good to go. Everything is working fine for me. For those looking for a fantastic first person, tactical action shooter game that makes you "think" before you act, and provides more than enough challenge and realism, then this is the one ... But, be prepared do die and retry, a lot. I highly recommend this one.

Great Game Gone Wrong,
By
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Video Game)
This game came from a great concept and sometimes it is actually quite fun. Unfortunately, the game suffers from bugs and a very hardcore difficulty system. It is definitely not for the average gamer. If you love hardcore shooters, this game might be for you, otherwise stay away or buy the console version.
The console versions are completely separate games from the PC version. While both offer "realistic" one hit-one kill health systems for both the ghosts and Mexican soldiers, the console version is a third person soldier with different gameplay elements and the PC version has larger enemy numbers, is first person, and is much more difficult. The PC version also allows you to control individual ghosts, which would have been fun, except that it doesn't always work. In fact, it rarely does. In the console version, you tell your ghost squad to move as a unit and the game indicates where the ghosts will go. Normally it works in the console version, but in the PC version the ghosts often move several meters away from where you tell them. This often leads to unnecessary and frustrating squad deaths. Most of the missions are slow because you have to literally check every nook and cranny in the world to prevent ambushes from the mostly good enemy AI. If you want a very realistic game, this might suffice minus the flaws in friendly AI and a buggy multiplayer system. If you are just an average gamer without a strong interest in fps, then find a different game.

Decent game, but I wouldn't recommend it,

I know, I know...I'm like five years late to the party. But still...
I decided to pick up GRAW a few weeks ago and load it on my computer as a distraction while I travel. I'll admit I'm not a hardcore FPS player, so some of my gripes can be taken with a grain of salt. - The SINGLE largest flaw in this game is the inability to save your progress. The checkpoint spacing is the very definition of 'ludicrous'. For instance, on the Guardrail IX map, the extraction helicopter lands 250+ METERS away from you. You're expected to navigate through the maze of snipers in the towers, snipers on the ground, snipers in the machine gun nests, snipers in the APCs, snipers on the tank's machine guns, and the tank's main gun without dying. Should you be felled by one of the NUMEROUS snipers...back 250+ METERS to start over. - The team is completely useless. They don't follow any commands (maybe they're union?), and pretty much go wherever they want to. I ordered one guy to take out a tank with his ZEUS. He decided to stand out in the open declaring, "I have no shot", not once, not twice, but FIVE TIMES! Yes, he was mowed down by the tank. He did the same thing with the helo, so at list the idiocy is consistent. - Some of the maps are glitchy. On several occasions I found myself lined up to take out the enemy, only to have the background and foreground disappear with only a few items visible (like the enemy's gun, but not the enemy). Lucky for the AI he could still shoot me. - Speaking of the AI; the enemy's ability train their fire on you through walls is uncanny. - The friendly tanks have a tendency to get stuck on nothing and simply wait for the enemy tank to find and dispatch them. - Did I mention the snipers? Overall, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone. It quickly goes from entertainment, to irritation, to outright rage.

I have played this for the Playstation 2 previously, and several Christmas' ago, I received this as a gift from my mom. GRAW is a solid game that at the time featured revolutionary gameplay mechanics, but sadly unless you have a super good computer this game suffers from horrible lag and graphics problems.

too contrived, too many things going on at once, constantly changing team positions, just toooo busy. just direct orders would have much better. gave game away.

This game is okay, I'd only play it through once though, and the multiplayer is kinda fun.
Is pretty hard, even on easy mode, great game if you have a PhysX card or a GTX 200 series card though. You totally see a difference between using PhysX and going without. I'd only consider this if your PC supports PhysX, just for that special eye candy!

Pretty decent game. Good graphics. GRAW2 is a bit better with better weapon selection and graphics. Both games have awful load times, crash occasionally, and seem to be somewhat buggy (on a dual core pentium with 4 GB RAM and NVidia FX9600 on Vista).

The real name of this game is Backward Warfighter.,

This review is from: Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter (Video Game)
Tom Clancy's shooter again disappointed everyone who was fascinated by the old game they created, which offered people lots of great time such as "Ghost Recon".
Backward Warfighter again owned new technique, new toys, and new graphic, which is just pretty, but the content is absolutely not suit the title of the game. Your teammate are so dumb that they can't follow your simple command, and they can't even follow your pace! This is very annoyed, and shows again how sloppy this game is. UBI still don't want to solve their biggest problem,AI. The reason why I gave this game two star instead of one is mainly because I don't want to be too harsh to a game series that I used to love.
