4.0 out of 5 stars Very well done, November 26, 2005

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (Video Game)
This game is one of the best in my collection. Considering the platform that it's for, the grapics and details are very sophisticated. With so many options open to you during the game, you can find serveral different ways to complete a single goal. You can choose to outright knock a gaurd out with a ring airfoil, or sneak up behind him and "make him smile ear to ear" or be really sneaky and lurk through the shadows without the gaurd even noticing your presence.

You also have a rather extensive arsenal. You can choose three different types of grenades, a pistol, and rifle with several types of ammo such as a "ring airfoil," "sticky cam," "sticky shocker," or just plain bullets. Once you get farther in the game you find that you have to conserve all the ammo you can find. This makes the game more challenging and interesting. You then have to decide on things such as whether to risk slinking around in the shadows with a gaurd near by, or to manuver your way behind him and send him off to dream land.

Though it can get hard and repetitive in some places, you'll eventually figure out the key to every level. Once you've gotten through all of the levels, you can then use a cheat provided in the game, to have unlimited equipment. This makes the hardest levels seem like a breeze. Caos Theory also as a story line you can actually follow, and the in game short movies have good graphics and are a nice reprieve every once and a while.

I got this a while ago and am still finding different hiding places and ways to avoid gaurds. I will say that this game maybe isnt the best for those without patience, just like your grandmother told you, "patience is virtue." Have fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great game, but does have its technical problems, May 21, 2006
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (Video Game)
First things first-seriously, don't believe the bad rap all the critics have given this title-I usually will heed bad reviews on most games, but I decided to try this one out anyway, despite the many reviews citing it as "unplayable" and was VERY pleasantly surprised.

Here's a simple pro/con to help you out:

Pros:

1. Great graphics
2. Plays basically like its larger counterparts
3. It's a lot of fun, once you get the hang of the controls
4. The story basically follows the console verions (i.e. it's good)
5. The multiplayer is fun (if you have someone to play with)

Cons:

1. Graphics, although impressive, aren't the fastest-it's playable (although you probably won't be using the thermal goggles much, the night vision is o-k)
2. The lack of a "knockout" or real knife attack (you can only cut throats after you grab someone)-it would've sped up the gameplay a little, but I can see why the developers would want to keep the pace of this game a little slower-it's a handheld game! Lots of grabbing isn't that bad anyway-plays much like the first game!
3. The controls do take a little getting used to-but after going through the training mission 2 or 3 times and playing the first level, which is fairly easy, I felt like I was playing Splinter Cell on my xbox-the controls are intuitive enough, once you get the hang of them.
4. All text-no speech in game It can be a little annoying, but I know the voices from the console so I just read the lines in my head with their voices and it seemed basically the same

All in all, i would strongly recommend this game as it really is fun and the main problem most have with it, the framerate, is NOT as bad as it seems and is quite playable. However, if you really can't stand somewhat sluggish graphics (they still aren't the fastest), then this is NOT the title for you.

I rate this game an 8.5-9 out of 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm not a kid..., July 22, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (Video Game)
im just to lazy to register. First of all, disregard everything that first guy said, i didnt notice any choppy framerates. the game is amazing, every level takes at least 1/2 an hour to beat, and you get very rapped up in the action. the graphics are amazing, except the blood looks like crap for some reason. it is not hard to control, there is just more freedom of gameplay, and therefor more complex controls than Goldeneye DS. Easily the best game on DS so far, much longer and more fun than Goldeneye DS (which i loved). By it without hesitation
