This review is from: The Clantons of Tombstone (Paperback)
This is the best book ever written about the Clantons, the most complete and informative, and no Western Buff's book shelf is complete without it. Over one hundred pages of documntation and photographs never seen before.

Great concise history of the Clanton's and Earp's,
By Saddleback Slim "RoamingOld Wyoming" (Rocky Mtn West) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Clantons of Tombstone (Paperback)
This is an excellent book written in an easy to read style with documentation and pictures. For me, it shows the Earp's in a true light, acting within the law and as officers of the law trying to maintain law and order in a lawless environment. The Earp's were continuously being threatened by armed members of the Clanton-Cowboy faction who refused to be unarmed in town and demanded that the law officers be disarmed. This finally led to the shootout which was inevitable. Nearly all of the Clanton's were killed as a result of their own actions and bluster's in Arizona. The elder Clanton was certaintly killed by Mexican bandits or Federal Mexican troops in revenge for earlier rustling and raids on Mexican ranches, See the book by Gray, When all Roads led to Tombstone which should of been in the bibliography here. This book shows the Clanton-Cowboy faction were serious criminals capable of murder and robbery and many other crimes for which they took the road to Boothill. Enough of blaming the Earp faction who were acting as officers of the law and had the guts to try to enforce it.

This review is from: The Clantons of Tombstone (Paperback)
Ben Traywick is THE historian of Tombstone. He has spent years of his life researching the history of Tombstone. There is nothing that he has written that isn't exact and factual to this town.
