The work of designer Claret Serrahima--born in Barcelona in 1950--forms an integral part of the collective graphic memory of the past three decades. His work includes the city coat of arms of Barcelona, the logo of the Barcelona fire department and the Barcelona municipal police, Kaiserplatz square in Frankfurt, the Ceret museum of art in France, the posters for the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games, the 1993 Athletics World Championship in Baden-Wrtemberg, and various other logos, advertisements and catalogues. All of this and more may be found in this new monograph devoted to Serrahima, whose oeuvre testifies to the ability of a gifted graphic designer to address problems inherent to a wide range of visual and information media--from journalism to the visual arts, from mapmaking to stage design, and from games and public spectacles to the aesthetic qualities of home appliances.
