I purchased this to be able to connect my IPOD Nano to my Clarion CMD5 stereo. This model Clarion stereo was an upgrade to my new boat and it being "IPOD Ready", I thought it would simplify music souces by not needing to carry a bunch of CD's out on the water. I was really pissed when I found out I needed to spend more money to be able to use this function, but that's another review. The CMD5 has a bunch of RCA type cables/connections hanging out its rear plus another round multi pin S-type looking connection. I figured (wrongly) that this was supposed to be the connection for the CCAIPOD which has a square connector - c'mon guys, my first car had an AM radio and I later upgraded it to 8-track! Since the CCAIPOD didn't have any installation instructions I had to contact the seller for clarification. The actual connection is on the lower rear of the head unit, covered by a plug to cleverly disguise its location. Point being you may need to remove the head unit to access. Once connected all IPOD functions must be selected from the Clarion faceplate and it's even more obscure to use than the IPOD, especially if it's music originally from a burned CD. That being said, the unit functioned generally well. I really can't speak as to fidelity since it's being used on a boat with a lot of background noise but it certainly is handy to slip the IPOD in your pocket for all your music needs (especially since the CMD5 has such a lousy tuner) plus it keeps the IPOD charged.

The Clarion CCAIPOD CENET was purchased for my boat. It has the CMD5 radio. The unit is amazing. The interface completely controls the Ipod. Every feature, even controlling playlists. It works great because the Ipod is completely out of the elements, and the radio is completely waterproof. Shipping was fast, and installation was just one plug! I couldnt be happier with this purchase...

This adapter worked as advertised. It was easy to connect. I installed this on the marine stereo on my boat. The product could be improved by including some kind of cover for the actual ipod connector. Some water got in the glove box and the connector has already corroded some. The menus on the stereo have to be used to select and play the songs as described.

Got this in the mail, was disappointed to find that 1. It only works for '09 and later models (I have an '07) and also does not work with any of the newer generations of IPODs. Luckily, Amazon is always very good about returns.

The product was received timely. I cannot comment on use, because I bought it as a present for someone else.

not sure if i'm the cause but power light does not come on. ipod knows it's connected to something but radio aux. can't find ipod

I bought this for my '09 Suzuki SX4 so I could connect an iPod to my factory head unit. The head unit is made by Clarion, and I had read that this is basically the same adapter the dealer sells for over $100. It works perfectly.

After pulling the radio and plugging it into the back, the radio flashed "System Check" for about 20 seconds. I thought it might be something wrong, but it must have just been configuring the new adapter. Once it was done it displayed iPod and I was able to play music, display titles, and even access basic menu functions from the radio (though doing so is kinda klunky). You can't use the controls on the iPod itself when it is plugged in, however.

No complaints - I guess the cables could be a bit longer, but it wasn't a problem for my application.

I purchased this item to use in my boat with a Clarion CMD4A source unit. It already had a Sirius radio accessory hooked to the unit in the only accessory port available. However, the Sirius unit had a "pass through" connector port on it. I connected this interface in there. Yes, there are absolutely no instructions with the interface, it just came in a clear bag and the marine unit manual wasn't much help at all. However, the unit works great after you figure out how the menu on the marine unit works the i Pod controls. We use it for hours on end on the boat and the i Pod stays charged as expected.

Item arrived quickly. Installation could not have been simpler. Worked exactly as prescribed in my radio's owners manual (Clarion CMD5).

The iPod adapter cable/ charger was everything it was advertised to be. Installation was simple and quick and I'm very happy with the products results. Buying through Amazon.com was equally as simple and fast. Amazon.com also had the best price on the adapter plus free shipping. Simply put Amazon has great products at great prices with great service.
