After purchasing and installing my first remote on the swim platform, I realized this is a terrific accesory. I can easily switch between iPod, CD, and tuner functions, as well as changing stations and songs. It is also great to have a clock visible from the water. The only disadvantage is being unable to switch between playlists from this device while using the iPod. It has been splashed many times by our dirty lake water, and easily cleans, even with a spray from the garden hose! This unit was easy install as per instructions as long as you have some basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of your boat, as well as confidence in cutting into fiberglass (A local fiberglass shop did the cutting and mounting for free while getting other work done). I recently purchased the second one for my bow area, since we spend a bunch of time there as well and my head unit is not in a convenient location. Make sure you get the extension cable(s and splitter if installing two).
