----------------------------------------------

The Clarion EQS746 is more than just an equalizer. First thing, the sound quality of this equalizer is hard to find even in professional studio grade equipment, with Signal-To-Noise Ratio (S/N) of 105 dB, a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 0.005 % and Frequency Response from 10 Hz - 50,000 Hz, this equalizer is definitely for people who want to hear music as was recorded, no noise, no distortion, wide dynamic range means high quality sound without compromise.
To make things even better the Clarion EQS746 inputs/outputs are all gold-plated, so you get no corrosion and better signal transfer.

The Clarion EQS746 also acts as a Low-Pass Crossover with selectable frequency of 60 Hz or 90 Hz (12 dB/octave Crossover Slope), add to that a separate subwoofer volume level control at your finger tips and a stereo sub-out --which makes perfect sense-- you're in control of the bass!

if you wan't to bump your system to a higher level this is the part
you need don't let the price fool you it is by no means cheep i put it in line with a new jensen vm9412 with my 3 ads amps the 7 volt output
drives them better then before and the control you get with the sub and hight is perfect, i didn't expet much for 50bucks, i was suprised.

I run an Alpine head unit, Soundstream door and deck speakers, a Kicker 5-channel amp and a 10" Kicker Comp Sub. My system sounded pretty good but I knew it was missing something. I picked the Clarion up for $50 and now know it was the most effective $50 I spent on my entire system. My system went from sounding pretty good to sounding exactly how I wanted it to. The installation was straight forward and fairly easy. The hardest part was figuring out where to mount the eq. The wiring configuration was easy to understand and I had no problems hooking everything up. If you're undecided about buying this eq don't be. Buy it already! This is what you're missing. It gave me the ability to limit the frequencies I wanted and to bring out the ones I seemed to be missing. I also could tell my sub was putting out frequencies near 125hz despite the built in crossover in my amp. Now it's putting out the lows I want it to and my deck and door speakers are putting out the mid bass that was bleeding into the sub. Buy this eq-you will be sitting here afterward writing a similar review for it because you'll be as happy with it as I am.

This eq is good for the price but very limitating. Does not have front rear or sub inputs so if you want to control your fader or your radio has sub crossover or even speaker distance settings, you should skip this eq. Another thing is that it takes over your volume and your radio volume is obsolete. It would have been a good idea to include a remote volume knob since the radios volume is not adjustable, per the instructions. Sound is great though.

I've always loved this equalizer in friends' cars over the years. Yes, it's been around for many years! In fact, when I printed out the manual for it from Clarion's website, it is dated on each page 12/02/2005 (and I know for a fact this was around long before 2005). When Clarion makes a good thing good, they keep it out there and continue to sell them for as long as people will buy them. Thank you, Clarion! Another example of this is their world-famous crossover, the MCD360. I have had two of those, and love them! I'm more of a Kenwood freak when it comes to head units, amps, and speakers. Kenwood used to be famous for having the best frequency response of speakers out there, but that's been changing over the years. Clarion in beating them these days in the speaker specs. Also, Kenwood doesn't make a trunk mount crossover. Clarion does!

Okay, so now for my review.

To begin with, it looks beautiful tucked under my head unit! I'm lucky enough to be able to change the colors of my buttons on my deck, so I can match the deep rich blue of the knobs on the Clarion equalizer. Sweet!

I could go on and on about how awesome my stereo sounds since I added the EQS746, but you can probably already imagine. Of course it brings out the highs (which I love... highs!) and mids like nothing on the planet.

The BAD thing I do NOT like about this equalizer? The location of the fader knob! It's to the right of the power button, right there among the 7 band adjustment knobs. Makes it hard sometimes to reach down and adjust the lowest crossover point of the 50 Hz band. In my opinion, they should have put the fader knob to the LEFT of the power button. But I'm sure they won't change it just for me. LOL!
