----------------------------------------------

The Clarion EQS746 is more than just an equalizer. First thing, the sound quality of this equalizer is hard to find even in professional studio grade equipment, with Signal-To-Noise Ratio (S/N) of 105 dB, a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 0.005 % and Frequency Response from 10 Hz - 50,000 Hz, this equalizer is definitely for people who want to hear music as was recorded, no noise, no distortion, wide dynamic range means high quality sound without compromise.
To make things even better the Clarion EQS746 inputs/outputs are all gold-plated, so you get no corrosion and better signal transfer.

The Clarion EQS746 also acts as a Low-Pass Crossover with selectable frequency of 60 Hz or 90 Hz (12 dB/octave Crossover Slope), add to that a separate subwoofer volume level control at your finger tips and a stereo sub-out --which makes perfect sense-- you're in control of the bass!

if you wan't to bump your system to a higher level this is the part
you need don't let the price fool you it is by no means cheep i put it in line with a new jensen vm9412 with my 3 ads amps the 7 volt output
drives them better then before and the control you get with the sub and hight is perfect, i didn't expet much for 50bucks, i was suprised.

I run an Alpine head unit, Soundstream door and deck speakers, a Kicker 5-channel amp and a 10" Kicker Comp Sub. My system sounded pretty good but I knew it was missing something. I picked the Clarion up for $50 and now know it was the most effective $50 I spent on my entire system. My system went from sounding pretty good to sounding exactly how I wanted it to. The installation was straight forward and fairly easy. The hardest part was figuring out where to mount the eq. The wiring configuration was easy to understand and I had no problems hooking everything up. If you're undecided about buying this eq don't be. Buy it already! This is what you're missing. It gave me the ability to limit the frequencies I wanted and to bring out the ones I seemed to be missing. I also could tell my sub was putting out frequencies near 125hz despite the built in crossover in my amp. Now it's putting out the lows I want it to and my deck and door speakers are putting out the mid bass that was bleeding into the sub. Buy this eq-you will be sitting here afterward writing a similar review for it because you'll be as happy with it as I am.

I had a heck of a time installing this in my toyota pickup, but it's in and it works. Yes, the LED illumination is blue, but I wish it was green to match the rest of my dash lights. it has low current draw, which is good for the battery and charging system--it comes with a 1A fuse and the remote takes very little power, I was able to split the remote output from my stock headunit to switch this on as well as the rear amplifier. I used a Griffin Autopilot to bring sound in from my ipod to the aux input of the EQ, and I had to eliminate a lot of interference when the two were too close together (I used a longer audio patch cable to separate them; they are still right next to each other deep in the dash, just more wire + a RF choke between them).

The manual to the EQ says their volume pot is better than any headunit's, but that is baloney--it doesn't feel very sturdy to the touch and twisting it introduces a moment of static (this might have stopped after the first few turns, I just put it in yesterday). Pushing the AUX input selector button also introduces a loud POP through my speakers, I don't know if that is my installation or the button, but I think it is the button. I turn the volume down before switching inputs. To be fair I hear a similar pop when shutting the entire system down, so it could be that switching inputs creates a split second with zero output (I-0-I, for example). This is probably better than a split second with both inputs overlapping.

Overall sound quality is very good; it is true that I hear zero noise from the EQ itself.
