1.0 out of 5 stars not for everyone
I'm so disappointed in this product. It's not because of the product itself, which has done wonders for two of my friends, but unfortunately, it had the complete opposite effect on me. I have combination skin prone to the occasional hormonal breakout, nothing too scary - using the skinbrush for 5 weeks made my skin break out in a way it NEVER had, and two weeks later, I'm...

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm worth it! Clarisonic is a skin's best friend., January 24, 2010
I have been hearing such good things about the Clarisonic, I had to see for myself. I had researched, and people felt the Mia was easier to handle, more reasonably priced and worked just as well as the more expensive models.
After a month of use, I can honestly state my skin is feeling like silk. One of the articles I read about the Clarisonic stated that the cleansing action allows your moisturizers to be better absorbed into the skin, since the gentle exfoliation unblocks the pores and gets down to the fresh, clean skin.
I love the fact that the waterproof Mia goes into the shower, and I can have a luxurious facial spa treatment while my hair conditioner works. It's such a nice feeling that it's almost disappointing when the unit automatically goes off after 1 minute. The fancier, more expensive Clarisonic models beep every few seconds to let you know to move to a new area. I don't need that feature, as it is natural to keep the brush head moving, like an electric toothbrush. The Mia is much smaller and more lightweight than the other models. I can't imagine anything bigger. I am afraid it would slip out of my hand in the shower.
The charger is a neat little magnetic disc that adheres to the unit while charging. It's so small, it would be easy to bring on a trip. I did not need to recharge yet, but after 21 days, put it back on the charger. The literature says it will hold a charge for 20 days.
I have absolutely no regrets having bought the Mia. I highly recommend it, and think it is one of the best products I have ever used on my skin.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Pleased!, December 30, 2009
I've been using the MIA for about a week now and I already can't imagine being without it. I had seen the larger Clarisonic and thought it looked interesting, but couldn't quite see myself spending the money for it. Now I'm glad I didn't. The MIA is the perfect size for me and really simple to use. There is only one button to push. It activates the brush for one minute and that's it! I saw a difference the first time I used it and am continuing to see improvement. Pores look smaller and lines not so pronounced. And when I apply moisturizer right after using it seems to work better. It takes a relatively long time to recharge, but I think it's because the recharger is magnetic and doesn't actually plug into the unit. No problem really because if I want to use it before it's fully recharged I just disconnect it, use it, then reconnect the charger. Since there is no socket or anything in the unit you don't have to worry about getting it wet. The MIA uses the same brushes as the larger Clarisonic, but it does not work with the body brush. That is an entirely different unit as the body brush works at a different frequency than the MIA or even the regular, larger Clarisonic. The MIA is something of an investment, but if you're looking for something that will make a difference I don't think you will be disappointed.

Update: Nearly a month later, I still love my Clarisonic and have only had to recharge it twice.

5.0 out of 5 stars smaller pores, January 15, 2010
First off, I didn't purchase my Mia from Amazon. I did my homework and checked all over and found the best deal ($119, shipping included) from Skinstore.com. I have been using the Mia for one month and NOT every single day. I obeyed the directions which told me to fully charge the little guy for 12 hrs. and I know this to be wise advice since you end up messing with battery life if you don't FULLY CHARGE the very first time. I have read on other sites that many women experienced the cystic-pimple breakouts after beginning this new regimen. Well, I did too! I get a pimple here and there once in a great while and they're usually POP-able and gone the next day. These suckers were the "6 ft. under" kind that irritate the heck outta you b/c there isn't a thing you can do about them! But, b/c I knew this was going to happen, I just backed off using it every other day or even skipping two days and now I have broken through to the other side!! Hallelujah!! My pores are the most noticeable difference. They appear to have shrunk though magazines have informed me this is an impossibility. Well, how do you account for the appearance of smaller pores, then? It has softened the texture of my face and given me an even tone so I only have to spot-check my foundation now. If you can withstand the 2nd week purge and press on until your face acclimates, you will be very pleased. Also, I do not use their cleanser. I use Aveeno Positively Ageless (ha!)with mine. It is an expensive way to cleanse, I know, but your face is forever honey, take care of it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Clarisonic Mia: The Acne and Aging solution that Works., July 12, 2010
By
Toblerone (washington, DC) - See all my reviews
I've had my Clarisonic Mia for over 4 months now, and I am so glad I bought it.

I have combination skin with a tendency to develop cystic acne. The Mia is the Greatest Acne Solution I've come by, Ever. Since I've bought the Mia, I've used it once a day with my daily facewash (Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser, for normal to oily skin, 16.0 -Ounce Bottles (Pack of 2)) and I've been truly amazed at the results. I follow up with my regular toner and moisturizer.

PROS (with regular use):
- I've had Four Pimples in as many months. This is a big deal to someone who battles with aggressive cystic acne every month before their period.
- Smaller, less painful acne. The zits that I do get are barely noticeable, compared to the little volcanoes I had to deal with before. They also seem to disappear a lot faster.
- Reduced Scarring from new acne and significant fading of old scars.
- Very visible results. I've had my neighbors come up to me and ask me what I'm using.
- Ability to use more products without repercussions. I religiously stayed away from makeup before I brought home my Mia unless it was one of the six things that had been proven to not make me break out the next day. With the thorough cleaning from the Mia, I can experiment with more looks and brands and not have to suffer acne for days later.
- Reduced fine lines: I'm in my late 20's, and I've noticed significant reduction in the small laugh lines I was starting to see around my mouth.
- Save Time and Money: You'll realize you end up spending less cash and effort on trying out new skin solutions because the Mia works so well. All I do is cleanse, tone, moisturize. That's it. I still look better than ever.

CONS/Cautionary measures:
- Can be drying: I use my better judgment and skip a day if my skin feels a little to dry.
- Cost: Aside from the original investment, you will have to replace the brush heads regularly, and they cost $25 for a single pack and $40 for a two-pack. So it doesn't come cheap. While Clarisonic recommends you change every 90 days, I've used my first brush head for 4 months and cleaned it regularly, and it still works fine for me. I plan to switch it in a week or two. I should add that this actually works out to less than what you'd spend on 4 facials a year in most cities, with better results.
- Purging period: You might see some bumps in the first week or two. The pimples that I had when I started using the mia came to a head all together.
- Requires discipline: This should go without saying, but for a product to work, you have to use it regularly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Proper cleansing means everything!, January 14, 2011
I bought the Mia in pink (to support the Breast Cancer Foundation with 10% of the profits) at Macy's in New York for 149.- dollars. I just realized I could have saved myself some money here at Amazon, but oh well. Anyhow.... I am a New York licensed esthetician with sensitive skin. I like how the Mia cleans my skin. My esthetician friend was the one who showed me the Mia first and she likes it a lot. My other close friend has one as well, so I figured I should buy one for myself. I have to say that it does the job properly and leaves my skin feeling clean without irritations. It holds easily and turns off by itself after about one minute. Yes, that's all it takes. So now I have my sonicare toothbrush and my clarisonic facebrush which was inspired by this toothbrush and I am happy with both. I am getting my best friend the Mia as well for her birthday. She has the Olay brush at home, but finds mine way more powerful and impressive than hers. I hope this helps. : )

1.0 out of 5 stars not for everyone, June 13, 2011
I'm so disappointed in this product. It's not because of the product itself, which has done wonders for two of my friends, but unfortunately, it had the complete opposite effect on me. I have combination skin prone to the occasional hormonal breakout, nothing too scary - using the skinbrush for 5 weeks made my skin break out in a way it NEVER had, and two weeks later, I'm still nurturing it back to its normal state. I got weird bumps on my forehead I'd never had before (usually my forehead breakouts are minimal to none, and the pimples look different than they did here), and I got breakouts on my cheeks and chin (basically everywhere I used the skinbrush).
Adding to that, when I woke up every morning, my skin would be slick with oil, and I'd never had oily skin in the past. A facial therapist I saw had a theory that the skinbrush was drying my skin out so much my sebaceous glands were oversecreting oil to make up for the dryness. Not sure if this is true, but as soon as I stopped using it, my skin slowly started to get better (and it certainly didn't get worse).

Seriously, I'm very disappointed, because pretty much 9 out of 10 reviews are glowing. I'd warn anyone with very sensitive skin to avoid this product, but of course, everyone is different. If you notice breakouts within a week or two of using it, I'd suggest not waiting it out like I did - just stop using it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Clarisonic helps acne & much more!, March 26, 2010
By
I've always said that if there's ever anything that really helps my skin I will do everything I can to sing its praises ... because nothing has ever really helped! I'm 23, and have struggled with acne since I was in middle school. I just got off of my second unsuccessful round of Accutane in December (four months ago), and had been feeling as though nothing was ever going to help my skin. The Accutane wasn't a complete failure as it did help with my deep cystic acne, but I still had large, white milia literally all over my face ... not to mention a ton of discoloration and acne scars.

I began getting facials for extractions, but the milia were so deep that the estheticians had a difficult time extracting them. The spa I go to uses Clarisonic brushes to cleanse the skin. I'd seen and heard of them before, but at that point had been abiding by the "Acne.org regimen" which focuses on doing nothing that will irritate the skin (to the point of washing your face for ten seconds max and only cleansing with your fingers very, very gently), so I was weary of using something that seemed to be such an intense exfoliator. My esthetician kept encouraging me to give it a try, so I did some research and ended up purchasing the Clarisonic Mia online for a great deal.

I've been using it for almost four weeks now, and absolutely love it. The milia have significantly reduced, the texture of my skin is incredibly smooth, and I've noticed mild improvement with my discoloration and scarring as well. I don't use the cleanser that it comes with (I'm sure it's fine, I just use a specific mandelic acid cleanser from my spa - which has been great). I've also starting using a Vitamin A&C serum in the evenings, so that may be helping some with the overall appearance, too.

I would, without a doubt, recommend the Clarisonic Mia to everyone! It definitely helps with acne, skin discoloration, redness, improves texture ...etc. It's a wonderful product.

3.0 out of 5 stars My skin feels great, but no improvement to acne, July 3, 2010
By
juliec (denver, co) - See all my reviews
This product definitely makes my skin feel great. I don't know that I could stop using it because I love how smooth my skin feels when I'm done using it. I was optimistic it could help with my acne though, and it has made no impact. I have blackheads on my nose, get small bumps on my chin, and get occasional cystic acne - sucks to be me! Even after a facial which basically gave me a clean slate, I still have/still get all 3. I do like this product, but my skin doesn't look any better. Perhaps it takes more time, I've been using it for 6 weeks.

2.0 out of 5 stars A lot of hype, March 14, 2011
I ordered it because of the rave reviews but was skeptical when it was delivered and actually saw how it worked. So I decided to conduct my own unscientific experiment - Clarisonic Mia on half my face, the usual washcloth on the other half. Thirty days later, no noticeable difference. I've continued to use the Mia (full face) for another 45 days; still no noticeable difference. Maybe different faces get different results; I happen to be extremely oily with very mild acne.

Pros: It's convenient. Feels good. Leaves your skin feeling extra smooth (but that only last for a few minutes).

Cons: No noticeable change in skin, pores, oil, or acne. Overpriced for what it gives you, a $3 washcloth seems to do the same thing. Replacement brush heads are very expensive. Charge time is nuts, it takes 18 hours to charge, that's ridiculous.

Conclusion. Since I've already spent the money, I'll continue to use it but I'll never replace it. I wouldn't recommend it to others. I think if you are somebody who gently massages your cleanser into your face, you might see a difference using this. But if you are somebody who gives your face more of a scrub, this product won't do anything for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best clening system ever!!!!!, February 28, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is going to change your life in a good way. Since I was 11 have pimples, and a very oily skin, which of course is very acneic, and as this is not enough, always have lived in a place which the temperature reaches 40 or more degrees:extremely hot! And you know what heat and sun makes to your oily skin: you never seem to have a clean face! After more than 20 years of trying all medical procedures, medications, peelings, creams, antibiotic pills, and whatever you may call acne clearing stuff.....FINALLY saw the clarisonic mia in a magazine once, decided to look and read the reviews for the item and wanted to give it a try. Of course after a lot of research find that AMAZON was the one who gave me the best price includding shipping, and as always super fast.Bought the lavender tone which is lovely, but above all this for the very first time in my whole life, I found an appliance which is able to REALLY clean my skin in a way that I can assure you: NO TOOL,MEDICATION, or whatever you name it, does. After the first use, the first thing I saw, was that those very little pimples that make you look dirty-skin, dissapeared, no more flakes (that comes out when you use oily skin and acne prone skin lotions)and not mentioning when you use products containing benzoil peroxide.Of course this make your pores look smaller, and skin healthier. Because of the hot wheather I use this with a shampoo for the face that contains salicilic acid 2% and that's it. No more nothing.I always use the Pore minimizer from Clinique instead of make-up, and my skin does not look shiny.
I HIGHLY RECOMEND YOU TO BUY THIS PRODUCT, YOU'LL SEE THE DIFFERENCE AND WON'T REGRET.Worth the price every penny.
