5.0 out of 5 stars RediTabs cut in 1/2 OK for youngsters...cheaper than buying children's Claritin & it's in the RediTab formula!!
If you are reading the reviews on Claritin, you probably already know it is a wonderful allergy medication, so my review isn't really on the Claritin itself. My son, who is 4, suffers from seasonal allergies. The children's Claritin works great for him, but it is so expensive that I went to our family pediatrician in search of a cheaper method. His pediatrician informed me that the childrens Claritin contains 5mg of the active ingredient, and the adult RediTabs contains 10mg...thus cutting the RediTab in half results in the same dosage as the childrens. This has been a wonderful help in paying for my son's Claritin because this adult box of 30 RediTabs lasts him 60 days for the same price as a childrens box of 20 chewable tablets. Now, I am no doctor and am only relaying to you what my childs pediatrician said was OK to do. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Product Order Review Claritin Redi Tabs, June 22, 2009

This review is from: Claritin RediTabs 24 Hour Allergy, Non-Drowsy, Loratadine Orally Disintegrating Tablets , 30-Tablets (Health and Beauty)
This is not a review on how Claritin works, just the product being cheaper than in my local store.

I was leary of ordering pills online but trust Amazon for everything.

Cheaper than my store (1/3 the price)

Product arrived quickly (allergy season)

Product was still in date (about a year and a few months from expire)

Product was retaped but each piece was sealed and dated (All good)

I would have done 5 stars but looked very closely after the tape was not the factory deal.

Saved money and will buy again, will look for Amazon free shipping first since they are the most reliable...

Claritin keeps my allergies in check. How do I know? Because from time-to-time I used to stop taking Claritin. Within a week or two my allergies and asthma would flare up. When I take my Claritin everyday, I don't even notice my allergies.

The tab desolves quickly but leaves a taste which doesn't last for long but is worth mentioning. My youngest has problems swallowing pills and this was the perfect solution.

Works wonders for my allergies. Love the fact that it's available in the "meltaway" formula. Great for lap band patients who can't or prefer not to swallow pills! The only thing I'm not crazy about is the price here on amazon. Just today I bought a 50 pack at Costco for $24.99. The last time I was at Walmart the 30 pack of reditabs was $18.88. C'mon amazon, dig deeper!

My 93 year old mother-in-law likes the Redi-Tab form of Claritin, even though the generic tablets are MUCH cheaper. This product was in the company package and was delivered in a timely manner. In the future, I think I will purchase a larger size box to save a bit more.

I know a lot of people say that different types of allergy mediations work better for them than others. I also read somewhere that one in 4 people will find that Claritin doesn't work for them but here's how my experience went down:

I have taken Claritin pills as well as Alavert (same active ingredients) dissolving oral tabs and had good success with them. I discovered generic loratidine works well for me, too.

One day I found myself in CVS with a couple of coupons and a sale on Reditabs so I bought them. I figured it would come in handy since sometimes I forget to take my antihistimine, and it would be good to have them handy on-the-go.

Since I purchased the package I have taken the RediTabs on several occasions, each time they did not appear to have any effect at all, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt - for some odd reason. (In between times I was taking the generic pills which worked fine).

Last week I was out running errands when I realized I would later be going to go to the feline shelter where I volunteer and I had forgotten to take my pill so I reached for the RediTabs in my handbag.

Now I have never had an allergy attack in the 4 months I've been working there so I was very surprised that I had to leave after only 1/2 hr because my throat was on fire, my nose would not stop running, my eyes itched, and I couldn't stop sneezing. Then my asthma kicked in and I was wheezing, coughing, and could barely talk...I was miserable.

It didn't let up when I got home. I took a shower, used my neti-pot and still blew through a half a box of tissues in just a couple of hours. Eventually I ended up taking a generic Loratidine before bed (even though the Claritin is s'posed to be a 24hr thing) just to get some relief.

That night I couldn't breathe thru my nose (which still tickled) and my thoat was still raw and itchy. In the morning I could finally breathe but the end of my nose was bright red and very irritated. My throat was sore from the previous day's episode and I decided that the RediTabs - or at least the batch I got - are simply bogus. How is it that the generic could work better than the real thing? I don't know but I definitely don't recommend Claritin Redi-tabs.

I have bought this product from CVS because I had to to get something ASAP because my allergies are REALLY bad. Didn't work at all.
