I ordered the base unit and four additional handsets. The problem is the handsets had to be too close to the base unit to work. This made them effectively useless. If you were in the kitchen or bedroom or bathroom, etc., the reception became garbled and conversations were impossible. I tried all the "fixes" suggested by Clarity, but none solved the problem. I have seen where other purchasers had the same problem.
I agree with the positive qualities/features noted by others (which is why I ordered these phones). Unfortunately, I did not have much experience with the potential positive features because the reception problems with the handsets rendered the system useless overall.
Clarity personnel were accessible and gave suggestions, but none worked. I do not think they are being realistic or actually owning up to the problem. This is unfortunate, because I do believe the product has useful and novel features.
I purchased the phones for my mother who has hearing problems and arthritis.
I have also noted that some reviewers did not have the reception problem. All I can say is that I have used many cordless phones and am not technologically naive and these handsets had a severe range problem. I tried everything because I did not want to have to go to the hassle of returning everything. they just would not work properly unless you were very close to the base unit.
There may be individual nuances among homes (e.g., differences in other electronic devices that could produce interference, size of home, etc), but a cordless phone system should not be that susceptible and other cordless phones (e.g., Panasonic) have worked fine in my mother's home.
So if you are considering buying this cordless system, I am not sure what to tell you. Perhaps look for a local retailer (e.g., Radio Shack) and see if it works in your home first.

We bought the combo 42320 and 42320HS for my parents. The 42320 is OK but the hand set is awful. The reception is so poor that I cannot understand my father when I call. Clarity told me that we would have to put the phone in its own separate outlet, which we did. Sadly, this has not improved the sound quality. Also, we were told to remove Life Alert from the existing base or the phones would cease to work. In my opinion, look elsewhere or just purchase the 42320 model. It's not worth the enourmous hastle.

Garbled message when calling the answering machine. No way to increase the volume on the hands free speaker phone. You have to
remove the phone from cratle when using the headset.I am not happy with the phone.

This phone was a nightmare. Ordered answering base and 2 cordless. Spent countless hours with Clarity's rude customer service. Didn't work properly so I returned and exchanged for new set, same model. Second set didn't work properly either. Don't get this phone.

Solid phone with lots of great features. Bright display with flashing lights when the phone rings. Also connects into bed vibrators for the very hard of hearing. Easy volume control too. I am sending this to my folks!

A good phone. Especially if you have trouble hearing. Could be more user friendly. Shipping, etc. as promised.
