Book Description

*Completed Series*

Perdita’s still dealing with the consequences of her actions when her enemies change their targets with no warning, but it’s the unexpected betrayal of those closest to her that hurts the most. When her world shifts beneath her, Perdy has to figure out how to stay standing without losing any more of herself to the werewolves.

Nathan’s watching everyone pull away from him, but he can’t control his destiny. He’s trying to protect his loved ones, but something always seems to get in the way. A public attack has everyone talking about wolves, and all eyes are on his family. His grandfather has lost his mind, and Nathan’s caught in the crossfire, but all of his choices will cost him a sacrifice. One way or another.

Nobody’s watching Amelia… Big mistake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Different from the first May 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
(cross-posted from the blog Wading Through Electronic Ink)

Something that I have noticed about a lot of YA paranormal romance novel series: the second book is a lot different from the first. The series generally start with ordinary teens with regular high school drama who have no idea that their lives are about to take a turn for the bizarre. So we see their ordinary lives and watch as they slowly puzzle out the strange things that happen to them. Why did I dream about this boy before I met him? Isn't it odd that his sister reads tarot cards? And who are the creepy people following me around town?

Then by the end of book 1, the characters are faced with the truth of the situation - The world is not as they thought it was and they are all in horrible danger. This usually culminates in a violent and dramatic first book ending climax in which our characters make it through alive but with more than a little post-traumatic stress. So then we are into the second book where the characters are constantly under threat of death and their attention is no longer focused on trivialities like moody friends and arguing parents.

The above description is exactly what happens in Verity and Clarity. And it's not that Clarity is a bad book, but it is a very different book from Verity. In the first book, the major conflicts were Perdy's oppressive home life and her friend Tammie's attention-seeking behavior. Perdita's home life is still a (lesser) factor in Clarity, but Tammie hardly makes an appearance at all. A large part of the story - it might even be more than half- is told from Nathan's point of view as he deals with werewolf politics, and the rest is Perdita being worried about her father and lamenting that she doesn't know how to be normal anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved the book October 23, 2012

I really like this writer. The story keeps you interested! It's kind of hard to have any affinity for Perdita's father and his character is too over the top on mistrust and control. The ending truly cuts your heart out! For a few hours I kept thinking that didn't happen that way.I have read Adversity Cursed 2.5(I don't recommend you reading it) and the author doesn't redeem herself for the ending in Book 2 so 3 better be good.

5.0 out of 5 stars I can't wait for #3 April 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a very good second book for the series. There were some very good new twists in the story and some that we saw coming after reading Verity. The book is a bit more aggressive and revenge is definitely a driving force for some, while the need to protect drives others. The bond between Nathan and Perdy get's stronger and both need to be together to find sanity in crazy times. We see changes in the characters of Jacob and Byron, for better and for worse, but their characters are finally starting to give much needed information. They crazy wolf pack returns but the motives for some are not what they seem. Lastly there is Amelia, it will be interesting to see where her character changes take the story in Purity. I really enjoyed the book and can't wait to see how the story ends.

4.0 out of 5 stars ugh a cliff hanger in the best worst way April 6, 2014

This book was much better than the first. That being said it does leave you with a must read the third! It's not the best WAREWOLVES series I've read. But defiantly a good new spin (although the grey wolf series was a better read with a better twist). But who knows what's to come. I for one am about to find out. Btw I'd say 3.5 stars really

4.0 out of 5 stars Great - not what you expect June 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a great novel, the second one in the series, for people who enjoy a quick and engrossing romantic supernatural novel. This book takes a completely different tone than the first one and leaves you with more questions than answers. I'm interested to see what happens in the next book: Cursed.
It was not what I expected, but none the less a good read.
