These ear plugs work well enough for an outdoor range, which has a roof over it. I'm not sure that it would be a good idea to use with an indoor range, but hey. They aren't any easier to hear what other people are saying while wearing them, however.

I have used the Etymotic ER-20 Hi-Fidelity earplugs for years that cost $10-12 each. They are very good but these new ones are far cheaper. Use in an industrial setting and use at music concerts too.

I purchased the smaller green ones for use at my job. They work great for smaller ears and are more comfortable than the foam ear plugs.

These ear plugs are rather poorly designed. Their small size and narrow profile lets them slip deep into the ear canal, but the stiff baffles and lack of graduated sizes to the baffle ridges do not allow these plugs to seal easily and stay in place. Also, the blade-like design of the baffle ridges, in contrast to the flexible rolled or mushroom type designs most competitors use, makes these very uncomfortable for extended wear. Lastly, while these "Clarity" models are touted by the manufacturer to have a flatter attenuation than typical plugs and allow for more high frequencies to be heard, their real life performance is really no better than traditional foam ear plugs. In fact, every other flat attenuation or "high fidelity" design I have tried exceeded these Howard Leight models in nearly every regard. The price may be attractive, but the money is better spent elsewhere. Avoid if possible.
