I've been working in sales now for 9 years. In that time, I've struggled to find a comfortable work shoe. I was one of those guys who went to Kmart or Pay-less shoes, only to have the pair wear out in 6 months and frankly, not even feel very comfortable in that time! So, I went shoe-shopping one day. I hit up all of the major retailers and some of the small ones. Basically, after a good 8 hours of shoe shopping, I found these shoes to be the best possible pair for me. They BREATHE, which means my feet don't get sweaty anymore. Prior to buying these, the best pair of shoes I had ever owned were a pair of Merrell Moab Ventilators Men's Merrell Moab Ventilator. The problem is, they aren't really very dressy - although they were breatheable and comfortable. Also, this review is being written in the middle of winter with a bit of snow on the ground outside -- not the best time for the Merrells....

I purchased my initial black pair at The Walking company. For the record, they are a GREAT outfit! However, they didn't have a size 11 in brown -- and it wasn't available to order. So, I quickly came home and snapped up a pair on Amazon for $30 less.

As a result of these shoes, I will probably be a lifetime Clarks customer. I had the opportunity to try several different brands with the polyurethane soles, but they felt too "synthetic" and unnatural to me, and each time I kept going back to the Clarks with their rubber soles. I had also heard about the polyurethane soles suddenly cracking, splitting, or coming apart on some the competitor's shoe brands, which made me a litle nervous. I was a little surprised to get home and see they were made in China, but I suppose that's rather unavoidable these days. The research that I've done seems to indicate that you won't be finding too many Clarks made elsewhere, but they seem to have retained a good portion of their quality.
I will update this review accordingly if the shoes do not hold up to my expectations, but so far, these are the best dress shoes I've ever owned.
The Moral of the story -- Stop buying endless pairs of $10-$20 discount-store shoes that don't feel that great and fall apart after 6 months, and get a GOOD pair. You -- and your feet -- deserve better!

These shoes are a lot larger than normal US sizes. I usually get 12 wide, but had to return them for 11.5 regular width and they fit perfect. Peltz shoes returned the first pair and I didn't have to pay shipping back to them. The second pair came right away. Great service. I'm giving Clarks a try for the last time though. Their craftsmanship has gone downhill over the years. I have always purchased clarks, but I had the soles crack on the last two pair within 10 months. If this happens to this pair, I will never buy clarks again. If their quality keeps on getting worse, I doubt anyone will buy them anymore.

My last pair of clarks (1 in black 1 in brown) lasted 10years and I wore them at least 6 days a week and did some major walking in them. They were made in Italy and waterproof where the sole and the upper connected. I got these as a replacement for my brown pair and they are exceptionally comfy and cool. They aren't made in Italy like the last clarks I got but they are great.

These are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever owned. They look great, feel great, and have very high quality leather - inside and out. The soles have excellent grip. These are a great all-around pair of shoes for casual wear. Highly recommend them to anyone looking for casual comfort and great looks.

I've had the Clark's Unstructured Casual Oxford for two years while working in a school in Korea. With both really hot humid and very wet weather, the Clarks have held up perfectly. I often have a 15 minute walk home in the wet weather and the shoes don't let in water at all. They are the most confortable shoes I've owned on my career as a teacher, where I have to stand for long periods of the day. I'm getting another pair!

This Clarks shoe is really well-designed and classy. They have an almost Victorian/Steam-Punk element, classic yet edgy. The leather and stitching are of great quality, and they are super comfortable! The shoes actually feel more like slippers, yet provide great support. Clarks shoes feature an effective Air Circulation System (ACS) for climate control; air intake ports pull fresh air in, while exhaust vents allow warm air out. Cool.

BUT, as other reviewers have noted, they run more wide and large than other brands. If you normally take a 10W (2E), go with a 9.5 (D) Medium (regular width). Good luck!

I have a pair of Clark's oxfords that I like very much. Wanted something more casual but could still get away with at work.

The problem is that I ordered a wide width having needed this another time with a pair of Rockports. Unfortunately, the fit is too loose and I wore them too many times to be able to return them now.

Going to look for inserts (like Dr Scholls) to see if that will fill the void. The other problem with the wide width is style - the front resemble clown shoes, which I'm certain would not be the case with the normal width.

Lesson is - don't buy shoes on the internet you haven't first tried on in a store.

I placed my order for this item and delivery time was very reasonable, about a week. Amazon is very good for that. The Clarks shoes are really a good and comfortable pair and they seem to last forever. These are the second pair of Clarks for me and I will buy the third pair for a different style from them soon.

Took a chance on these as I typically wear Docs or Born. So far, I'm quite pleased. They are comfortable, light, look good, and my feet don't hurt after a long day. I also like the air flow to reduce heat. I have not walked through a puddle of water or been rained on yet - so no comments about the airflow and water intake. I appear to be the opposite of many men - I have narrow feet - not extra wide, so instead of getting 'normal' shoes, I went one step up from narrow. Again, they fit as advertised.

UPDATE 6.21.14 The price is comparable to Born and Docs. They are very, very comfortable, fit great, and look sharp. I changed my rating to 5 stars from 4 as I was still 'testing' them out. Enjoy!

I have five pairs of Clark's shoes. They are all very comfortable. This is my favorite style. They all fit my 11W feet perfectly, even with my orthotics under the liners.
