Very happy with these boots! I'm not made of $$, and I looked everywhere for an affordable pair of riding-style boots-- I found it in these. Even tho they're described as a 'motorcycle' boot, the look is under-stated enough that they can pass for an equestrian style boot as well, hence my 'cross-over' tag.

The fit runs very true-- my normal boot size 9 fits perfectly, and tho they're not considered 'wide', they still accomodate a painful Tailor's bunion on one foot, and are still very comfortable. I have a 15" calf, and the fit is perfect with either tights or skinny jeans.

I love the oiled leather, too, which some describe as 'stiff- I describe it as good quality, durable, warm (I'm in the upper-midwest), and helps the boot hold its shape since I was not in the market for a slouch boot. The taupe shade is very neutral and versatile, too-- depending on what's worn with it, it can pass for either a light brown, or warm gray. The sole is thick and treaded enough for walking on snow, too, yet blends with the boot enough so as not to be *too* obviously practical. ;)

    Very happy I bought these!

These are gorgeous boots but unfortunately the calves are much too wide for me (my calves are about 14") so I returned them. I love the leather. It has a dull finish and seems high quality. The shaft height is perfect for me coming to just below the knee. (I'm 5'5".) The foot fits the way 8.5M usually fits me. I wear 8.5N so I add full length Spenco foam pads with arch support and wear socks. They seem true to size. The heel height is good for walking. They don't feel completely flat and the sole bends easily. They're very comfortable. I highly recommend them for people with wider calves.
I've been comparing these to the Timberland Lexiss boots which are quite similar. The boots differ only in decoration, shaft height and width and very slightly in foot width. The shaft height of the Timberlands is about an inch shorter than the Clarks and the Timberlands fit my calves perfectly. The foot is very slightly wider. The beautiful quality leather is the same on both the Clarks and Timberlands. The heel height and material are very similar. They are also very comfortable and easy to walk in. Unfortunately, I am returning the Timberlands too because the thick socks I need for the boots to fit will make them too hot for So. Cal. I'm hoping to find some narrower boots.

*Style: Gorgeous. The color, as other reviewers have mentioned, is a greyish-brown, maybe a "faun". A unique but versatile shade. I did not find the style to be overly clunky or motorcycle-ish, but it's definitely a more casual style.

*Construction: The material is a thick, quality leather that will take on "character" (a.k.a. wear) and just look better. It is matte but not sueded. The lining is high-quality, soft and smooth. There are two sections of hidden goring - one under the buckle and another near the zipper. The sole provides comfort and traction. I think these are a great value for the price based on quality.

*Fit: This boot is about an inch taller than other boots I own (which I prefer, as I am 5'9" and taller boot hit closer to the knee). The opening IS wider than other boots I've tried. However...my specific flavor of "athletic" calves are thick throughout, so the middle of the boot shaft was almost impossible to zip. If you have top-heavy calves, I think you will benefit from the extra space in the opening, but mind the tapering of the shaft if you are thicker from knee to ankle and not just at the top of your calf muscle. Also, the footbed runs somewhat narrow. I have flat, but not wide, feet, and I was hanging a bit over the side). The material is stiff around ankle and heel, and I think this requires some breaking in (um, and smaller calves...d'oh!). I wear a 9.5 boot and a 10 shoe. I would probably recommend you try your shoe size first - the extra space may reduce the feeling of narrowness.

I'm extremely sad these boots don't fit.

Bottom line, beautiful, high-quality boot. The fit will not be for everyone, but if you have average or narrow feet and average or wide-on-top calves, you should try them!

These are really cute. I sort of wish they were more of a shiny finish (they're matte) but they're great casual boots. Super comfortable, even when doing a lot of walking. Big fan!

I have been searching for a long time for a good pair of boots. I was surprised at the great price for these considering they are leather, but the material is very unique...a greasy leather that is pretty stiff. They are especially stiff at the ankles, which may be uncomfortable for some, but I like that they don't slouch or pucker like other boots do. They have a great look and I find them very comfortable.

My only complaint is that my calves are 14" and they are HUGE around them. They looked so clunky, almost like rain boots. I was considering returning them but since I liked everything else about them I decided to take a chance and have them altered. I went to a shoe repair shop and for $65 I had the calves taken in 1.5". They look great now! Happy I decided to keep them.

If you live in LA and need a good repair shop, go to Armando's Shoes & Repair in Westwood. He did a great job and now my boots are perfect.
