Mindblowing!,
By
This review is from: The Clash (Hardcover)
This book is amazing. Great photographs, and having the band telling their story is fantastic. Despite being assembled years after Joe Strummer's death, he is a dominant voice in the book. I would compare the style of the book to The Beatles Anthology book, although unlike The Beatles book, The Clash tell their story album by album and tour by tour as opposed to year by year.
You'll love the pictures and the stories. You'll start out flipping through it, and then get sucked in and start reading. This book is sure to become a classic. By the way, the book is HUGE and HEAVY, and beautifully assembled. If you are a Clash fan, you definitely want this.

WOW,

This is the book. Reading the book. Reliving the whole Clash Time. WOW
I mean, carry this book under your arm. If you were not there-now you can be----with this book. I was there and this book made me want to run around Hollywood. Go to London. Spend time in New York. I was reminded how much the music and lyrics of The Clash described the times and places that we lived. Those were the days. This was the group. This was the music. These are the memories and all in one book. This was the group filled with matter. This mattered the group. This book describes the only group that mattered. Who matters anyway? moe armstrong

The Best Clash book available,
By Darin Campbell (Toronto) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Clash (Hardcover)
This is a wonderful book, full of commentary by the Clash themselves about all aspects of their career 1976-1985. fantastic pictures, full set lists of all their tours, complete discography etc. If you are a fan of the band you cannot be without this. I go back to it again and again, particularly when listening to Clash albums. The definitive history of one of the greatest bands of all time.

Best Book Ever!!!!!,

This review is from: The Clash (Hardcover)
I have every Clash book, DVD, CD, Album, and I still couldn't wait to receive this book. They were the best band ever in my opinion and knowing that they will never be together again, makes this book all the more precious. This book is their words, so it's a more personal look at the band. The photos are great and I would recommend this book for anyone who wants to know the story of the Clash.

The ONLY Clash Book You Will Ever Need....,
By SomeBlerk (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Clash (Hardcover)
This is without a doubt the only book any Clash fan will ever need. Growing up and being greatly influenced by music in the late 70s and early 80s I have read a lot of books and seen a lot of photos from that time, but this book tops the list about the Clash. It is very easy to read, it flows well and has lots of new photographs and information about the important people, places and happenings of the time.
The main thrust of the book is obviously the Clash, but it does (and has to really considering how they were all intertwined)mention the Pistols, The Slits, Sham 69, Blondie etc, but never to a point where it all just becomes 'filler' and a rehash of the other 1000's of 'Punk' books out there. All the groups and people mentioned here are strictly on the periphery and rightly so as this is a book about the Clash by the Clash. The interviews in it are well written and in chronological order, with it being clear the proof reader has done their job well - all the relevant facts match up throughout the book. The Clash were without a doubt one of THE influential groups of the last century though having said that they come across as pretty humble and a bit bemused by the whole fame thing! Each one of the group brought a different quality to the table however it is clear they all needed each other - Joe bought the anger, politics and unrest of the time, Mick the musical knowledge and technical know how and Paul bringing the good looks, attitude and style. The only negative comment is that there isn't much input about (or from) their manager Bernie Rhodes who was instrumental in the Clash's rise to fame. Clearly cut from the same cloth as Mr. McLaren I feel that a bit more about his influence on the group would have added to the book even if it may have been negative as far as Joe, Mick and Paul were concerned. All in all an excellent read and well worth the space on any music aficionados shelf.

i'll just say that i like the clash but i got this book as a present for my boyfriend who LOVES the clash... when he opened the present, he gasped. that's how cool he thought it was. it's also a lot bigger and has way more pictures than i thought. from the description on the site, it seemed like it would be a regular book. this is more of a book of photos with some essays. enjoy!

The best Clash book,
This review is from: The Clash (Hardcover)
For any fan of The Clash this is a must. When it shows up it is very impressive. They left no stone unturned and has plenty from Joe Strummer even though he is no longer with us. You will be reading this book over and over.

Agreed, Greatest Band Book Ever,
By
This review is from: The Clash (Hardcover)
I got very lucky with this one, I was in downtown Chicago at a retail "giant' bookstore and happened to look at the clearence table on my way out the door and there it was, for $5.99. What a great read this is, the photos are also amazing. This books makes me wish that I had grew up in England to witness this explosion first hand instead of the US. If you are a fan of The Clash or just a music this should be a MUST read.
