What I was wishing for!,
By grrltrouble (Detroit) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Class of 3000: Music Volume One (Audio CD)
As a fan of the Class of 3000, I had been deeply disappointed that the songs weren't available as an album when I checked around Christmas time. But HOORAAAYYY! Cool non-babyish music by an "urban" artist that elementary school aged kids can enjoy with their parents? YES! As the mother of a nine yr old boy, I absolutely cringe at the lyrics of popular songs on the radio, and I would not consider myself particularly prudish at all. In fact, quite the opposite. I have been known to enjoy some down and dirty music myself, but for the kid? He's not ready for all that yet. As a music loving family, though, where do we look for jams? Especially rap or hip hop? Lil Bow Wow can only take us so far...I have been lovin' Outkast for years and years and am so thrilled that Andre has made this creative choice. Never being one to play to stereotypes, he has made an awesome "family" album. If only other hip hop fathers would get over their gangsta selves and make music that they would let their own kids listen too!

Safe Music,

My 9 year old enjoys the Class of 3000 cartoon and asked for this CD. I've seen the cartoon a time or two, but I've not managed to tolerate it. However, when I previewed this CD, I really enjoyed it. I'm an Outkast/Andre 3000 fan and I was certainly curious about the content of a children's CD. While I believe you have to know your own children very well before allowing them to listen/watch anything, I consider this a "safe" cd for my 9 & 5 year old. My children have eclectic taste in music, as do I. Also, we engage our children about why they enjoy or don't enjoy particular music/tv/movies, etc. There isn't any foul language or controversial lyrics in this music. In fact, the lyrics are sometimes very simple and quirky...like songs your kids would make up on their own...like the Crayon Song (my sons favorite). I like this CD and don't mind my children listening to it over and over (and you know you can't do that with every Children's CD!!)

If you or your kids are a fan of the show, then this is a must have. If you are a fan of Andre 3000's music, then this is a must have. All tracks are playful and very musical, like only Andre can do.

If you like the andre 3000 production, you'll love this soundtrack. one of the down sides i think are that some of the songs are short. other than that. I really like it.

Direct from the Westley High School for the Performing Arts (and Cartoon Network's latest musical comedy series with the same name) comes the "Class of 3000" Volume One album !This CD highlights the original music played in each episode of the series' first season featuring Sunny Bridges (voiced by co-creator Andre "3000" Benjamin) and his gifted music-playing students like Li'l D, Philly Phil, Tamika, and the rest. Songs include "Throwdown", "Peanuts", "We Want Your Soul", "UFO Ninja", "Crayon", "My Mentor", and more. Sing along with Sunny and the rest of the crew as they play their stuff and get their groove on. And don't forget to rock out with even more songs in brand-new episodes currently airing on Cartoon Network.

The music from this cartoon show makes for great listening--it was my 11 year-old-son that requested it (BUT I LISTEN TO IT TOO!). Very original music, and most importantly, keeps my son's interest in music alive!

My son and his friends are easily entertained with this CD. They can never get enough. I have also found that I have several favorites on the soundtrack. Already I am looking forward to the next CD. Because of this CD my son now wants to play an instrument in school. YES!! Andre 3000 has definitely went over and beyond with this musical introduction into the art of music for children.

It's funky, jazzy, hip-hop-y and amazingly adventurous. Lots of the songs sound like they could be hits in the grown-up world. One of the very best of the dozens of kids CDs that we have

This is not your typical "kiddie" cd. Andre' 3000 is truely a talented man! I love this cartoon that he has given to our children. The soundtrack is great! Even adults can appreciate this "kids" cd. My favorite song is Banana Zoo, it's track 6. My fiancee loves the Crayon Song which is I think maybe track 10. Oh yeah I almost forgot...My son's favorite song (the one we bought the cd for, lol) is Ninja Style. Great quality cd, tight beats, and cool tracks! Oh yeah, and I bought mine on Amazon!!!!
