Book Description

When worlds collide ...

Born to wealth and privilege, ten-year-old David is arguably the most spoiled, obnoxious kid alive. That is... until he is kidnapped for ransom and left for dead. Thrown into a world he knows nothing about, he spends the next several years in an orphanage where his claims to fame and fortune fuel years of torment. Finally, he escapes hoping to make it back home. Instead, he meets Linda. Having lived among boys for so long, he doesn’t know how to handle his feelings for her. She is both irritating and intoxicating. Not that it matters. With looks like hers, every boy in the county is chasing her, and David, with his scraggly clothes and long hair doesn’t stand a chance. Then, when circumstances push them together, they both find that sometimes people aren’t what they seem.

Set during the Great Depression, Class Collision: Fall From Grace will transport you to a simpler time, filled with heartache and unexpected love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Put It Down! April 30, 2011
By Twinkie
Format:Kindle Edition
After I downloaded "Class Collision," I started reading and simply couldn't put it down!
I am not a huge novel reader at all. So, the fact that this book kept my attention and actually had me excited to come back to it was a big surprise!

Perhaps the biggest delight was that this book is clean. I usually steer clear of romantic novels of any kind because they are usually too descriptive for my taste. But, "Class Collision" had just enough to keep it interesting but not make me have to quit reading.

As stated, there are some editing glitches, but who cares! The story line is terrific. =)

I can't wait to read the sequel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Part One of Two February 14, 2011

This book was so highly recommended that I got it - and enjoyed it thoroughly! Was unaware, however, that you have to get PHOENIX RISING in order to finish the story - which always strikes me as manipulative and is quite frustrating. I have since read PHOENIX RISING and the two books together are fantastic and well worth reading. Good research, excellent character development and a story that really grabs and keeps you.

Highly Recommend both of Annette Mackey's books and look forward to many others from this talented author!

5.0 out of 5 stars kept my interest February 9, 2011
Format:Paperback
The book is obviously written to a younger audience, and I am in my 80's. Nevertheless, I found that it held my attention through all of the story. I loved the setting in the depression era. That's when I grew up so that part of it was endearing to me. I especially liked the way the author described the emotional feelings of her characters. It felt real. I look forward to the sequel with great anticipation.

About Me:
In the world of I, there is a whole lot of me. Hopefully this self-serving page doesn't give the wrong impression. Though I'm not a big-wig or a superstar, writing is my passion. And so I share.

I love to write. Whether it's music or stories, I've never been bored because my brain is always working a mile a minute. There is so little time to get everything done! If only I could write as fast as I think.

To pay the bills.... I've worked as a music teacher, dental assistant, night club performer (as in singing and playing the piano), choir coach, school teacher, and several other jobs that I'd rather forget. I've done just about every volunteer job you can think of, from running a food drive to a formal banquet and theatrical show. But more than anything I love being a mom. There are times when you want to pull your hair out, yet nothing compares to the absolute unity of a family. Though I might search the world over, my favorite people will always be the ones with whom I have shared a roof, past or present. Kids are loyal and strong. If only I could learn to be a kid again.

My Favorite Things:
There's no way to narrow this down. I love classical music -- obviously. That's why I have a degree in it. To put it more plainly, Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 makes me go weak in the knees, as do Puccini's operas. But unlike many classical musicians, I also love pop and rock. Go Elton John -- Aida was the best! And yes, I am a Superman fan. Who wouldn't want to be a super hero? From Star Trek to Jane Austen ... there's such a wide variety of fantastic in the world and I can't help but appreciate it all.
