3.0 out of 5 stars DVD title a bit misleading
I was a bit surprised to find that this DVD focuses mostly on DreamWeaver 8 version, not CS3 and CS4 as it states. It's a great tutorial - instructor is fantastic, but it's a little outdated for how it advertises itself in the description. Majority of the chapters are all in v8, with a bonus tutorial at the end that focuses on the new features in CS3.

As a professional computer programmer and artist, I've read tons of self training books. I have never read one as clear, well thought out and laid out as this Educational DVD. I am half way through the course and will be sorry to see it end. Every time I stop after a technique is shown on the video and fool with it I soon develop a question and sure enough the very next video chapter answers the very question. If I find something in Sue Jenkins explanations that stikes me as vague I only have to continue to watch the Video illustration and it reinforces the point perfectly. The DVD won't make me a great artist but it definitely helped me kick out the stuff I needed for my web site. Hats off to a well produced program. I thank you. Now on to the next chapter.

5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed and easy to follow, June 22, 2008

The instruction was very detailed about all the features of Dreamweaver and was taught in a way that was very basic. It didn't go over my head. If you want to know all the features of Dreamweaver and what they do, this is a great tool for that. It indepth but not too deep in complicated explanations. I now understand CSS. I give this DVD a thumbs up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Instruction Video, May 5, 2008

This video was fantastic. I had learned how to do web design while I was in school some years ago using GoLive but hadn't used much of it since. This program not only showed me how to use Dreamweaver, but it also helped make certain I am employing the best practices available today.

There is a lot of content packed into the lessons that will help even intermediate users, but it is presented in such a way that it would be easy for even a novice to understand. If you've never done web programming/design before, just take it slowly and don't try to absorb everything in 1 day. It is helpful when using Dreamweaver to have some basic knowledge of html, but it isn't required in order to get a lot out of the video. The instructor goes over the most important things you need to know.

Because I had a basic understanding already, I was able to watch all the videos over 2 days without feeling overwhelmed. I would highly recommend this video. It was very helpful and well done and a much better way for me to learn the program than by reading a book. A picture is worth a thousand words!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly pleased; worth the investment., November 9, 2008

I was skeptical about dropping 200 bucks for an instruction video, but bit the bullet based on several positive reviews. I am two-thirds of the way through the course, and have been quite pleased. I have a rudimentary working knowledge of Dreamweaver, but have always been frustrated at not knowing why/how certain aspects of it work. I have purchased several books on DW in the past, each weighing several pounds and containing more pages than I could possibly read or stay awake through. I was looking for something quick and effective, not having weeks to devote entirely to learning software. This course is by no means an exhaustive review of DW, but a well-done and easy-to-understand overview of all the primary features. It is presented in a straightforward, sensible manner. If you are a rank beginner with DW you may find it a bit overwhelming at first; if you are an advanced web designer you would likely find it too rudimentary. For someone inbetween those extremes, it is a good deal. The only thing conceivably better would be a personally taught intensive class, which would ultimately cost just as much and take much more time. The DVD is an excellent way to understand the basic workings and operation of DW, much quicker and less frustrating than wading through a massive book. It was worth my 200 bucks just to finally comprehend some of the mysteries of a complicated program.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally accessible, must-have reference, July 23, 2010

This training DVD is a must-have resource for any designer looking to expand their repertoire to web design. Sue Jenkin's teaching style is friendly and accessible. Her love of Dreamweaver clearly shows and she makes it seem like, "Yes, this is possible." I just published my first site, thanks to this DVD, and am looking forward to go through and applying the more advanced steps that she teaches in the DVD. You can't go wrong with this DVD.

I found Dreamweaver for Designers to be an exceptional resource. The instruction is clear and easy to follow. The DVD not only gives you detailed knowledge about Dreamweaver but gives valuable information for setting up your own, organized website.

I am not a web designer so I was able to learn at my own pace and pick up a new program in my free time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great DVD!, August 10, 2009

I really like this DVD, I found it extremely easy to follow along with the lessons as I worked on my own files instead of flipping back and forth in a book. Sue is a great presenter and does a good job of explaining each of the lessons in plain English without a bunch of complicated techno-babble. My favorite lesson was number eleven about "Templates, Library Items and SSIs" which does an awesome job of showcasing a few of the most powerful features in Dreamweaver that not a lot of people take advantage of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great video training for Dreamweaver, July 14, 2009
This review is from: Class on Demand: Adobe Dreamweaver for Designers: Adobe CS3 and CS4 Educational Training Tutorial DVD (DVD)
I chose a video training DVD because in many ways it emulates the much more expensive classroom experience. I found that since Sue is also a classroom instructor she was able to structure her video to cover the vast majority of questions that come up in classroom sessions. She has a friendly style that keeps you interested and on topic.

I especially liked that she would interject various tips about which of multiple ways to use a function was preferable. Sue helps you to develop good working habits and workflow by clearly explaining the basic pallets, including Properties, CSS styles, and Files. I also liked her instruction on setting up the initial managed site and the importance of it, and taking you through constructing a basic website from start to finish.

Sue packs a huge amount of information into each section without making it overwhelming I feel I got a great start on using Dreamweaver in the real world. Overall, I would recommend that anyone that can use solid beginner to intermediate Dreamweaver training buy Sue Jenkins Dreamweaver for Designers, it is well worth the price.

3.0 out of 5 stars DVD title a bit misleading, March 27, 2011

I was a bit surprised to find that this DVD focuses mostly on DreamWeaver 8 version, not CS3 and CS4 as it states. Majority of the chapters are all in v8, with a bonus tutorial at the end that focuses on the new features in CS3.

I contacted the manufacturer about it, and their customer service was incredible. In a world of where you normally wait 1/2 hour on hold and never actually talk to a human, it was a great surprise. The instructor for the DVD contacted me personally via email and cel, to talk about my issue, and assured me that most of the basic interface between v8 and CS3/4 were very similar -- so the lessons are still pertinent.
