Digitally remastered collection from the controversial French singer, songwriter and actor. Serge was an enormously talented artist fueled by, and often sidelined by, alcohol, cigarettes and humans of the female persuasion. Outside of Europe, he is best remembered for 'Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus', his duet with future wife Jane Birkin, but within Europe, he is a legend. Remembered as much for his personal life as he is for his music, this compilation helps to readdress the situation. 20 tracks including 'Les Sucettes', 'Sea, Sex And Sun', 'Suck Baby Suck' and, of course, 'Je T'Aime...Moi Non Plus'. Here is a collection of Gainsbourg's famously erotic songs. (Including the Brigitte Bardot version of "Je T'Aime... Moi Non Plus", which was in fact the original recording. I prefer Jane Birkin's version, personally). The selections here are largely not surprising, what is to be expected... a whole collection of more controversially-themed songs. I could do without the substandard songs like "Sea Sex and Sun" and "Goodbye Emmanuelle", but overall this is an entertaining collection. Maybe not the one I would recommend you go out and buy when the best songs here can be heard on other Gainsbourg albums.
