Classic Sega Genesis 6-Button Controller

Yeah sure it worked great while it lasted but I didn't even get two weeks at it before the controller broke. I was better off going to the pawn shop down the street and getting an old used one.

Recently I wanted to replay my sega genesis and if your reading this review for this product, you probably want to as well. Anywho, the controller definitly feels like a third party controller, light as a dorito and likely just as fragile but not as tasty. It just feels cheap in my hands like a gumball trinket for fifty cents. That being said it has been holding up quite well in my oaffish hands, flimsy feeling yet, somehow sturdy. go fig. Anyway, It does what I need it to do, play my genesis when I'm fumming at my twice red ringed 360 and saving for PS3 games after the 300$ console cost. Short of looking for an actual "sega" licensed controller, this is what you'll find.

This controller is miniature. I feel like I'm gonna break this damn thing. Even the controller plug almost feels too small to fit inside the Genesis (it sort of sticks out). All the buttons wobble around on it too. It makes a loud rattling noise when you shake it, like something is trapped inside.

Had this controller for a week, thought it was the real one but obviously isn't. It feels a little cheap and the d-pad broke already. Bad product. I would not purchase this.

Like the other reviewers said, this controller is light and a bit cheaper than original Genesis controllers. However, I've found that older controllers tend to break easily and this controller actually feels less clunkier than the original 3-button Genesis controllers. If you need a controller, I'd say buy this one instead of an older, used controller. Plus this one is only 8 bucks!

I just ordered and recieved this controller a couple days ago, like the other reviews its basically just a good cheap sega controller if you need to buy one. It feels lighter than the original 6 button sega controller and the buttons almost seem like they'll fall off but I dont think that will happen. If you shake the controller it sounds like there's loose parts but like I said, its just a cheap off brand controller. It seems reliable for now would probably buy another if I didnt have 5 controllers already. Word.

Typically, I don't write reviews, but when I do it's because the product is terrible. (Btw, I bought new).

So I get home after pawn shopping my way around town.
I noticed that a package arrived with my Genesis Composite cable and this controller.
I opened the box, and the Composite cable greeted me with a hearty hello firmly and protectively wrapped in plastic. On the other hand, there was this box within the box that held this 5.5 inch monstrosity. How was the controller packaged? Well get this, the box that it comes in came loose (possibly during shipping) revealing the crap that lay within and it was apparently trying to molest my Composite cables with it's horribleness.
So I take the controller out of the already opened box and noticed that this piece of tihs has buttons that move about a centimeter when you pick it up or move it around. Unacceptable.
D-Pad moves a little on it's own. Unfathomable.
The "mode" button is a cheap flat button, not kidding, that requires enough force to break this controller.
Calling this a controller is an insult to controllers.
This should be banned along with all of them burned. We need to -cide this garbage. I'd put this in my trash, but my trash would be ashamed to have it in it. I think the only logical choice is to throw this in the fireplace, but that would require too much effort to spend on it. After all, the effort put into the creation of this monstrosity is bottom of the barrel lazy.
Unlike other people though, I do find that that the cord length is sufficient.

One last thing. On the reverse of the controller, you will find a sticker that says "Q.C. Passed". I died of laughter.

Don't buy this controller. Seriously.

I bought two of these off of Ebay for approximately $5.00, which included the shipping, from China. I thought that was a great deal, even for a knock-off, considering the prices of the official controllers at the time. I was wrong.

I used the controllers ONCE each to check that they worked, they did... as for how long they work, dunno, I'm not using them.

They are extremely difficult to plug in and remove from the system, making me concerned for the safety of the pins on my console.

They are very small, possibly made for children as some others have mentioned, but not necessarily a bad thing IMO. I didn't have any issues throwing fireballs and dragon punches in "Street Fighter II", but that kind of use/abuse will likely lead to the durability issue others have mentioned.

The biggest problem I had with these controllers is the length of the 'TWO FOOT' cord! I personally prefer corded controllers over wireless because I don't like throwing money away on batteries, but come on SERIOUSLY, A TWO FOOT CORD?! To further explain my issue, I own a 42" projection screen TV, the only thing sitting two foot from it is the table it's sitting on, lol. (The "Official" controller cord length is SIX foot.)

i needed a circuit board from a controller to make a control box for a ddr pad. searched for "usb controller" and this came up as the cheapest. only it's not actually usb its for a sega genesis. i should be more diligent in my research.

if i were to review it on it's genesis capabilities i would say: buttons feel really flimsy and wobbly, its also really small.

Don't buy it new, I was expecting a NEW sega licensed controller and got a plastic ripoff of one.
If you want to get a official controller make sure from seller that its a official sega licensed 6-button controller.
