4.0 out of 5 stars Works GREAT. Some tinkering to mount it.
This product is one of those items I should have bought years ago.
I did have to do some work to mount it however. Even though I had the mounting brackets as low as I could go it still was way too tall. I had the older Classic deluxe cab, which I loved. Not only did it keep snow off you but it kept you warm as well. I bought a new snow blower so I thought I'd order a new cab too, since I didn't save all the hardware to mount it on a different snow blower. I'm not short but even a seven footer would fit comfortably inside it. I had to drill new holes in the supplied upright bars to lower it. One tip I'll give is to take the whole upper frame that they made for easy removal in the house to install the cover. That is if you don't have the luxury of a heated garage like me. In the cold it just would not stretch over the frame to mount. Once it was warm it installed with no problem.
A must have product if you snow blow.

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't Wait Til It Snows, November 19, 2009

This review is from: Classic Accessories 52-002-010401-00 Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab (Lawn & Patio)
Assembly of this product is not a cake walk. The instructions are acceptable but hardly stellar. The assembly process is most akin to assembling one of the umbrella tents with the snap together plastic rods.

The most difficult part is connecting the tubes together that have clear plastic tubing sleeves to retain the pieces. Very stiff and inflexible in the cold. maybe a hair dryer or hot water would make it easier.

As it has yet to snow, I do not know how it will perform on the job. FOR SURE, DO NOT WAIT TIL IT SNOWS TO ASSEMBLE IT. If you do, you be a cold, frustrated, and unhappy camper.

One more thing. Mine was missing a little pouch to stow small items. Door Opener, iPod, or whatever. I emailed them as instructed for missing parts. Unfortunately they don't have any. Maybe that's why I didn't get mine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Installation, October 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Classic Accessories 52-002-010401-00 Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab (Lawn & Patio)
My review is about the install. I have an ariens deluxe snow blower and guessed where to start the installation on the handle bars. It was a question of how high or low to put the main mounting brackets. I ended up being a tad high because the fabric bottom part of the cover will block my headlight. Not a big deal to move the brackets. The "slide together" bars are a tad tedious to get them all together and facing the right direction. The whole cover can pivot and you have to over tighten the pivot joints to try to stop the cover from swinging down on your head. Looks like a future problem. I have not used the product yet. Still waiting for snow.

I think I will enjoy having the cover when the freezing blowing snow isn't hitting my face. The cover does look good when its installed.

Cab is very roomy and tall. Assembly in a warm basement/garge is a must.
Could not keep cab from rotating down, no matter how tight the camp bolts were. This problem needs some attention from manufacturer. Double sided tape inside the clamp support tube would help.I drilled an pinned the clamped tube in place. Not everyone can do this. Typical for a universal/fit-all product. Overall I am very happy with the cab.

5.0 out of 5 stars Snow Cab, December 4, 2010

This is a very sturdy unit. Easy to install with pockets to carry your phone and other things while blowing snow

Let me caution you that while I say easy to install you should have a second hand to help stretch the fabric over the frame. That was difficult but worth the effort

Amazon had the best price and super fast shipping

I had the older Classic deluxe cab, which I loved. Not only did it keep snow off you but it kept you warm as well. I bought a new snow blower so I thought I'd order a new cab too, since I didn't save all the hardware to mount it on a different snow blower. The new cab is lighter than the old so it doesn't throw the balance off as much but it doesn't wrap around you as much either. This means that while it will block the snow from hitting you in the face, you aren't as warm. Also, the way it mounts is inferior and no matter how much you tighten the bolts, the cab slips and starts to fall on you. You must periodically push the cab up to keep it from hitting your head. This is disappointing. Last, while the cab is lighter, it does still throw the balance of your snow blower off causing it to kick up more easily. The old style cab came with a ballast bag that you could fill with sand to offset the weight. The new style does not include this, so you must buy or fabricate some sort of ballast weight for the front of your snow blower. I welded several pieces of 1/4" x 2" rod together and painted them to match my snow blower then bolted it to the front. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to weld or has the equipment to do so. An after market ballast can set you back $100 or more. The ballast bag was a cheap solution. The new cab includes pockets for a remote or some sand/salt but adding any more weight will just cause you more trouble, since as previously mentioned the bracket can't even support the weight of the cab. A remote would be okay but definitely NOT sand. You may be able to guy the top of the cab to the front of the snow blower but again, this would be a home brew fix. I can't recommend this product as-is.

3.0 out of 5 stars Install on Troybilt, October 28, 2010
By
Larsen (Humboldt, SD, US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Classic Accessories 52-002-010401-00 Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab (Lawn & Patio)
Installed this snowcab on a Troybilt Storm 3090/XP yesterday. It is a well designed cab however it is not a "great" fit with the Troybilt blower. Because of the configuration of the Troybilt handles crossbar, you cannot mount the cab mount in an ideal location on the handles. You cannot get the cab to mount low enough to prevent interferance with the snow shoot controll lever. When you try to actuate the control shoot angle lever, at some point the lever interferes with the snow cab mount. This could be prevented if the cab could be mounted lower, but it can't because of interfereance with the engine and the postion of the handlebar cross piece. I mounted it anyway and simply accept that I have lost about 10% of snowshoot angle adjustment. More of a problem is that I could not get the bolts that pinch the snowcab frame to prevent it from rotating down on it's mount tight enough to prevent it from rotating. That is a poor design. I fixed that by drilling an additional hole in each pinch mount and installing a steel pop rivit in each one, no more rotation. I bought mine at a local Farm Fleet type store, on sale for $85. I was willing to accept the compromise of fit because of price. This is a well built snowcab made from quality material. Be wary of where the cab will mount to the handles of your blower, it may, or may not, interfer with the controls of the blower. If mine had had the old "turn crank" style shoot adjustment, I would not have had a problem. This is the second snowcab I have owned, the first one had the same problem with a tendency to rotate from the weight of the cab itself. Simple fix with a couple of pop rivits, if your willing to do that.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good But..., December 22, 2010
This review is from: Classic Accessories 52-002-010401-00 Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab (Lawn & Patio)
My wife bought one of these for me, for Christmas (Bless her heart). I read the other reviews and I agree that

It's a bit time consuming to assemble.
Build the frame and attach the "fabric" indoors where its warm.
Figuring out where exactly to attach to the snow blower is trial and error
The actual connection to the blower is sort of like a hinge. To prevent the cabin from blowing / falling forward or backward, I've used some rope to tie the side bars supports to the handle bars of the snow blower.

The good stuff is that when the snow blows back, I don't get covered! It makes the whole process more comfortable. I like the design of this model because it is pretty easy to remove for what ever reason. (There's a nearly identical model made for a large department store (starts with "S" and rhymes with "EARS") that doesn't include the same disconnect hardware.)

This review is from: Classic Accessories 52-002-010401-00 Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab (Lawn & Patio)
This is a review for Classic Accessories 52-002-010401-00 Deluxe Snow Thrower Cab

Very well manufactured and packaged. Easy to assemble. Fits well on my John Deere 1330SE snowblower.
Some trial and error installing it. Mounted it high, then lowered it and then went back to high.
I am 6 feet tall and that gave me a better view out of the more vertical section of the front window and extra head room.
After initial installation it is quick and easy to remove or re-install. Unscrew two hand tightened knobs and lift to remove.
Lower it back onto the two permanently mounted posts on the snowblower and hand tighten the two knobs to re-install.
Less than one minute for either operation with no additional re-adjustment required. It really exceeded my expectation as to how easy it is to take off and put back on. I was worried by the reviews stating they could not stop the cab from sliding down onto the operator. I have no such problem. I tightened the two bolts that squeeze the brackets onto the mounting crossbar and they create more than enough tension to keep the cab from sliding down. As I have seen suggested I was worried it was going to require a counter weight. I find no need for a counter weight on my snowblower. I find it a great sheild against the weather. Finally no more inevitable wall of snow blowing back in my face while I snowblow.
