Nice book for the hearse fancier!, April 12, 2000
This review is from: Classic American Funeral Vehicles: 1900 Through 1980 (Photo Archives) (Paperback)
If there was a three and a half stars - that is what I would give this soft cover book. Nice, well worth the money - but slightly disappointing from what I was 'hoping' for...
After seaching everywhere for print material on hearses, this book is a blessing. There is a real lack of good information out there! It is well worth the cover price, however, do know that it is mainly a picture book. I was a little disappointed that there was not more hard information on these coaches! I would have liked it more if there had been more details and statistics, more written information, and also some interior pictures. All of the photos are single shots of exteriors of the coaches. Also, some close ups photographs of details such as carved panel work, dome lights, trims, etc., could have been very helpful. Would have also been nice to see 'some' color in this book, as all the pictures are done in black and white only. Possibly even color charts showing the original colors that the different years of coaches offered when ordered new. There is room in the market for an improved version of this book! All in all, if you enjoy funeral coaches and need information - this book is a must have. A great place to start!
